Spectrum TV is an alternative television service. Provided channels from other companies and original programming with live channels are the main draw. For example, its News section provides 24/7 coverage in ten states, while the Sports page showcases regional matches in four states. 

The Spectrum Originals brand presents semi-exclusive movies and shows. Most of the content you receive by purchasing the service is also available on the go with the TV app. 

Easy streaming

The Spectrum TV app features a well-organized user interface. You can browse through categories or find content by name, network, sports team, or actor. Intuitive controls let you set your favorite channels for easy access and add titles to your watch list. 

Apart from allowing you to watch content on your phone, the app can cast to a TV with Chromecast. The remote control features let you change channels, record with DVR services, and delete, modify, and play shows. 

Another handy function is the option to set up parental controls with a PIN that blocks programs. This can be done by the show's rating or specific channels in the settings and these settings automatically apply across all household devices. 

Package-dependent

You’ll need to purchase a membership to log into and use the app. The service offers four plans, all boasting cross-platform compatibility. The specific channel selection and available lineup differ on location and on the membership tier you purchase. 

Unfortunately, you’ll see ads while using the app. That wouldn’t be a problem with a free service like Pluto TV or Sling TV, but considering that you’re paying for this service, it’s a bit of annoyance.

Overall, the extent to which you can benefit from this app depends on your membership tier. Even so, the interface is slick and well-executed. It’s the ideal source of on-the-go entertainment for Spectrum customers.

Yes. If you’re looking for an alternative to your local cable provider, Spectrum is a good option. The companion app is invaluable once you buy a plan.
