Meet Tamas Nemeth, Senior Software Engineer for Imaging at Phase One, instrumental in the development of our imaging software. Tamas not only brings extensive technical expertise but also a profound passion for photography.  💻 Tamas, as a software developer at Phase One, how does your typical day at work look like?  There isn't really a typical day for me due to the broad scope of my responsibilities. My main focus is to achieve the ultimate image quality for our system, which involves analyzing images, reading research papers, and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues within the organization. Since "optimal image quality" is a relative term, my tasks vary greatly and often require innovative thinking.    📸 Reflecting on your journey, is there a particular project that you found especially rewarding, given your passion for photography? One standout project was a few years ago when Capture One Cultural Heritage introduced the Auto Column and Auto Focus features for our Heritage cameras (the iXG and iXH). After discussing with my colleague Yair, we conceived the idea of integrating these features to capture subjects at the desired resolution. Although initially rejected due to time constraints, I managed to implement it during my free evenings. We called it Auto PPI, and it became quite popular among our heritage users. Additionally, I worked on other notable projects during that period, such as the Dehaze tool, Style Brushes, and the Speed Edit feature in Capture One.    My current work is less about photography as art, given the different requirements for image processing in aerial applications. However, I still thoroughly enjoy collaborating with my colleagues to produce distortion-free, sharp images with maximum detail for our customers. 💡 Tell us about a specific software feature you have worked on recently. How do you believe it enhances the experience for our users?   Recently, besides optimizing the performance of the Image Processing pipeline with my colleagues, I’ve been involved in a side project with the manufacturing facility. We aim to achieve optimal focus on each aerial camera using a sophisticated collimator. This effort further enhances the sharpness of our captures, allowing users to detect even the smallest details.    🌎 What do you enjoy doing outside of your work?    I love spending time in nature, capturing its beauty through photography, particularly wildlife and landscapes. This hobby allows me to combine my passion for photography with my appreciation for the natural world. Additionally, I enjoy engaging in various hands-on activities, which help me to clear my mind and stay healthy. This time of year, I spend a lot of time gardening, which I find both relaxing and rewarding. I also enjoy woodworking, which provides a satisfying creative outlet. These activities not only offer me a break from my technical work but also inspire my creativity in different ways. #PhaseOne #career
