Shaping the games industry at Bornholm Game Days 2024 on the sunny coast of Sweden.   Ten times, the dynamic gathering of Bornholm Game Days (BGD) has seen industry leaders coming together to engage, explore, and elevate the games industry's future. BGD is more than an event; it's a vibrant community. Here, amidst an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect, our passion and commitment to the games industry are united. Together, we shoulder the responsibility of driving positive change and shaping our beloved industry. This year, we at Nordisk Games were excited to join forces with renowned industry friends Hazelight Studios and Raw Power Games to make it happen.   Among the key inquiries that sparked intense discussions under the summer skies were:   ✓ How do you succeed in an increasingly fierce competitive landscape?  ✓ How do you organize for both creativity and performance?  ✓ Is there commercial success to be found in the AA market segment?    On our second day, we plunged into dynamic thought-provoking roundtables focusing on subjects such as personal leadership in challenging times, AI as an organizational strategy, funding games in 2024 and beyond, and building resilience in times of uncertainty.   To ensure a safe, trustful environment, we adhere to the Chatham House Rule, protecting the confidentiality of our dialogues. Highlights from our Winter Retreat in Copenhagen   Each February, we invite executives from within the Nordisk Games group to our annual 2-day Winter Retreat. This year, we enhanced the experience by featuring insightful guest speakers who delved into the heart of the games industry and offered glimpses into the future. First, Maurizio De Pascale shared his expertise on technology, game engines, and AI in game development. While many questions about the future remain open-ended, we now feel better equipped for continued discussions and decision-making. Secondly, Signe Svensson took us through some hard exercises to pin down why and how company culture impacts the bottom line. It’s not an easy task to see beyond cultural structures created over the years, but it does affect the bottom line if you are not able to do so!   Venturing beyond the conventional, we explored the intersection of games and movies with the internationally acclaimed Danish actor, Pilou Asbæk. His inspiring and eye-opening fireside chat with Steve Goss added a touch of fun to the retreat. Similarly, a captivating surprise was specially crafted for us by the Shortcut LED stage at Nordisk Film, immersing us entirely into a game and leaving us in awe!   A heartfelt thank you to all participants from Supermassive Games Ltd, Flashbulb Games, Avalanche Studios Group, Nitro Games Plc, Star Stable Entertainment AB, and everyone involved in making our Winter Retreat 2024 truly exceptional! 🙌   #NordiskGames

The temperature is rising for the games industry at SLUSH 2023.   Robert Henrysson, partner at Nordisk Games, joined Slush last week and came back motivated and inspired. SLUSH stretches over a week and gathers a crowd of people from the games industry. During the conference, Robert got to engage with industry colleagues and experienced numerous events including RovioCon "The goal was to connect with and meet a strong line-up of existing and potential partners, colleagues, and industry players. Also, to get a feeling for the latest advancements in tech and to do a temperature check of the quickly evolving games industry", Robert states and adds:   "Games is definitely still a thriving business. Many industry players have had a bit of a slow 2023, but the temperature is rising. AI will profoundly impact the industry in the next 36 months and beyond. This cannot be overstated – either we’re on top of this or we will get left behind". As always - lots of colors at SLUSH embracing the darkness of Finland in November. 🙏  

An Egmont tradition: Gifting for children and young people at crisis centers in Denmark.   Last week we had the yearly gift-wrapping event, where all Egmont employees are invited to write personal notes and wrap gifts for children and young people at crisis centers in Denmark.   The gifts are donations from all Egmont businesses, including game codes from Supermassive Games Ltd, Flashbulb Games, Avalanche Studios Group, and Star Stable Entertainment AB – Thank you very much for your contributions. We are certain that games can bring some joyful moments to children and youngsters in a difficult time. ❤️   Egmont is a foundation with a dual purpose. All the profits from the businesses are invested in creating the best media and supporting children and young people with difficult life conditions throughout Scandinavia.
