Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship

Training Future Leaders in Clinical Cardiology

The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is a comprehensive three-year program designed to generate future leaders in clinical cardiology. The fellowship is built on the foundation of a leading-edge medical school, top-tier research university and one of Central Texas’s largest hospital systems: Ascension Seton.

As a new medical school created in partnership with the community and built on the foundation of The University of Texas, Dell Med and its programs are committed to educating leaders to transform health and care. Notably, the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship is the first fellowship in the Department of Internal Medicine and builds upon the foundation of the already strong Internal Medicine Residency training program that has existed for several decades.

The program provides a clinically rigorous curriculum in general cardiology followed by time in the second two years for electives and research. The training meets all the requirements of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American College of Cardiology and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Applicants can apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service.

The design of the program is to train clinically excellent cardiologists who provide personalized care to the patient, with commitment to research and ingenuity to the health care system.

Clay Cauthen, M.D., Program Director

The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship is housed within with Dell Med’s Department of Internal Medicine.
