Stimulating development! This spirit drives the DLG since more than one century. The founder of DLG proposed machinery and now we are at a transition other topics like #digitization, #carbonneutrality, #sustainability, and #resilience are getting more relevant. In my daily work covering entire agri-food systems currently following topics are getting more relevant: #biodiversity , #data spaces/ecosystems, #alternativeprotein, #cellularagriculture, etc. I am lucky that the DLG offers a platform allowing the development of knowledge in close collaboration with practitioners from multiple sectors; e.g. at the upcoming DLG Wintertagung in Leipzig (https://lnkd.in/eSHiKiBK). Finally I will cite Liam Stokes (https://lnkd.in/e8gAbAvg) as this statement matches nicely: "UK farmers have always been more likely to adapt and overcome challenges set by buyers and regulators, rather than leaping straight onto the streets. For now, British agriculture seems to be innovating to meet the twin demands of production and environmental stewardship, while waiting for the policy framework to settle.". Can we also state for European farmers - I hope so?

Interessant artikel om de voedingsbodem van de BBB te begrijpen. “Consider the vast differences between the speed and quality of Internet connections in rural and urban areas. According to data from 2022, for example, France’s average broadband speed for fixed networks in urban areas was 219.07 megabytes per second. In rural areas, the average speed was little more than half of that, at 128.6 megabytes per second. Perhaps even more concerning is the fact that these disparities seem to be increasing over time. In the great majority of EU member states, the gap in fixed network broadband speed between rural and urban areas increased from 2019 to 2022, in some cases more than doubling. These disparities, and the policies underlying them, further embitter rural populations and stoke political discontent.” https://lnkd.in/edRARbeb Op literair vlak kan ik het latere werk van Houellebecq aanbevelen. Vooral Serotonin: “Suffocating in the rampant loneliness, consumerism, hedonism, and sprawl of the city, Labrouste decides to head for the hills, returning to Normandy, where he once worked promoting regional cheeses and where he was once in love, and even--it now seems--happy. There he finds a countryside devastated by globalization and by European agricultural policies, and encounters farmers longing, like Labrouste himself, for an impossible return to a simpler age. As the farmers prepare for what might be an armed insurrection, it becomes clear that the health of one miserable body and of a suffering body politic are not so different, and that all parties may be rushing toward a catastrophe that a whole drugstore's worth of antidepressants won't make bearable.”

#Sustainability is a topic very close to my heart - and so I'm really proud to work at a company that is actively engaged in discussing how we can shape a greener future in #biomedical research. How does BioLizard do this? Well, the smart use of advanced #dataanalytics in #healthcare and #lifesciences can boost efficiency and reduce waste - while improving #RandD outcomes. For instance... 💊 Smarter #drugdevelopment: Improved #data utilisation can accelerate the #drugdiscovery process, making it more efficient and reducing its environmental footprint. 🌱 #PersonalizedMedicine, less waste: Precision medicine based on individualised patient #data can lead to more accurate diagnoses and targeted therapies, reducing the need for trial-and-error approaches and minimising healthcare resource consumption. 🌍 Sustainability through precision: For example, #datadriven precision agriculture practices optimise resource use, thereby reducing environmental impact and enhancing farming efficiency. ♻ Reusing #data: For instance, making use of publicly available datasets and atlases to fuel early hypothesis generation can reduce the need for preliminary experiments - thereby reducing reliance on #wetlab resources early in pipelines. Reach out to BioLizard today to start discussing how we can make your research more #datadriven 🚀
𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 🌿💻 Our commitment to data-driven #research isn't just cutting-edge - it's also a key player in our journey towards #sustainability. By leveraging advanced biomedical data analytics, we help scientists make informed decisions that can minimise environmental impact and maximise positive change. In line with our dedication to leveraging #data for a greener future, we were honoured to be invited to contribute our insights and ideas for Belgium's participation in #COP28. Yesterday, our #CEO Liesbeth Ceelen discussed with the Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and important players in Belgium from various sectors how data-driven #biomedicine, #food, and #agriculture can shape a more sustainable future.🌱🇧🇪 #DataAnalytics #Innovation #Datadriven #Analytics #Bioinformatics #CapitalofTechnology #GhentTech

Luisa Gronenberg our Vice President of Technology Integration & Strain Development, talked with bioökonomie.de about our BioTreasure project, funded by SPRIND - Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen. The goal of BioTreasure is to develop an end-to-end prototype that processes various carbonaceous waste streams into new products as a continuous bioproduction process. The prototype will help to reduce industry dependencies on resource-intensive materials while mitigating waste by utilizing PET/plastic waste, cooking oil waste, and second-generation plant waste as resources. 👉 Read the full interview (German) by clicking the link below. 🇬🇧 Or read our BioTreasure press release (English) here: https://lnkd.in/d3U8FpJU #synbio #biotech #innovation #futureofsustainability #bioengineering #biodesign #regenerative #naturecodesign #insempra #sustainability #circular #circulareconomy #biofabrication #climatetech #biodesign #biomaterials #sustainabletextiles #sustainablefashion #materialinnovation #biotechbeauty #bioeconomy #futurefashion #futurebeauty #deeptech

Navigating the Future of Agriculture: Insights from World Agri-Tech In an era marked by rapid change, especially with the swift advancements in technology, it's crucial for industries to adapt and evolve. Agriculture is no exception. With the pressing challenge to feed 50% more people using the same natural resources, the sector is quickly advancing towards intensification, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to meet global demands. At the recent #WorldAgriTech conference, I had the privilege of listening to tech leaders and executives from leading agricultural corporations share their visions for the industry's future and the main trends shaping our path forward. Thank you Ranveer Chandra, Elizabeth Fastiggi, Ruohan Liu, Jeremy Williams, Scott Komar, Elliott Grant, Vipula Shukla for the interesting discussions and new ideas. Key Trends to Watch: Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI is set to drastically improve efficiency across sectors. In the future, AI will play pivotal roles in staff training and unlocking people's potential, driving innovation, and aiding in scenario-based planning. This will support shareholders and top management in making informed decisions. Genome Editing: Already a standard in the aquaculture and few other subsectors, genome editing is gradually becoming ubiquitous in agriculture. By creating disease-resistant and faster-growing species, this technology significantly enhances business efficiency. Robotics: Particularly in harvest collection, robotics are becoming increasingly important, promising to revolutionize traditional practices. Sustainability: With a focus on reducing fuel consumption, agriculture is moving towards more sustainable practices, highlighting the industry's commitment to environmental stewardship. The conversations and insights from #WorldAgriTech have solidified my belief that embracing these trends is not just beneficial but essential for the future of agriculture. The journey towards a more efficient, sustainable, and tech-driven agricultural sector is well underway, and I'm excited to be part of this transformation. #AgricultureTechnology #SustainableFarming #InnovationInAgriculture #FutureOfFarming
