Happy 4th of July! Today, the United States celebrates Independence Day, a significant holiday that commemorates the country's freedom. One of the most iconic symbols associated with this festive occasion is the American flag, also known as the Stars and Stripes or Old Glory. The flag has a rich history deeply rooted in American culture and holds immense significance. The American flag's origins can be traced back to June 14, 1777, when the Second Continental Congress officially adopted its design. The flag consisted of thirteen alternating red and white stripes, representing the original thirteen colonies, along with a blue field adorned with thirteen white stars, symbolizing a new constellation. As the United States expanded over the years, the flag evolved to incorporate additional stars, each representing a new state. Beyond its visual representation, the American flag carries profound symbolism. It serves as a powerful emblem of national unity, identity, and pride and embodies the fundamental principles upon which the nation was built, such as freedom, democracy, and resilience. #4thofjuly #independenceday #americanflag

your work should feel like the reunion of two lovers separated for years. Frank Herbert has sold over 20 million copies of Dune. so if anyone knows a thing or two about being a successfuI creative, it's him. he gave a talk at UCLA in 1985. Herbert emphasized one lesson. do work that you love. work that you spring out of bed excited to continue. work that makes your heart flutter. work that feels like play. this lesson is not new. Naval Ravikant. Steve Jobs. James Cameron. they all repeat this idea of work that feels like play. and for a damn good reason. you always win. and have a damn good time doing it. no one can outwork you when you’re not even working! do yourself a favor. experiment. try on different hats. run in a few pairs of shoes. go salsa-dancing. if you haven't found your thing, just experiment. and the play will find you. the life you're searching for is not in the work you’re given. it's in the play you choose. thank you memento mori stay curious :)

In the arc of your career, you will work with countless people. Some you’ll label as partners. 🤝 That label - Partner - has an inherently positive connotation and picking the right partner should result in a long term positive relationship with positive outcomes. 🙌🏽 But how do you pick or know you have the right partner? 🤔 In childhood, parents and teachers are your guide. They pair you up with people they think will make good partners (or friends). They’re not always right. In adolescence and adulthood you learn that trust is a key factor. Earning trust, breaking trust, losing trust are all important life lessons. It’s the foundation for all adult relationships. But how do you find or know if you have a good partner at work? 👨🏽💼The ethos of your company presumes trust without going through the process of earning it - like a guarantee. ✅ You rely on the company to only hire good, trustworthy people who will work well together. But that also doesn’t always work out. Mostly due to misaligned goals and incentives. By the time you realize it though, it’s too late. You’re stuck working with them. 😔 So how exactly do you pick the right partner? Well if it’s your choice, then the 3 characteristics (Intelligence 🧠, Energy 🏃♂️and Integrity🪆) that Naval outlines in this video should be your guide. They’re too important to ignore! Would love to hear thoughts from those that watched it. 💭 👇🏽 #partners #relationships #workculture

🌟 Day 7/100: Integrity - The Bedrock of Trust 🌟 Reaching Day 7 in our series, let’s reflect on a virtue that’s at the core of military values and equally essential in civilian professions: Integrity. In the military, integrity is non-negotiable. It’s about doing the right thing, even under the toughest circumstances or when no one is watching. This deep-rooted principle is what builds trust, fosters respect, and creates a strong, cohesive team. C.S. Lewis captured the essence of integrity beautifully: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” This principle is just as vital in the civilian workplace. In business, integrity builds the foundation of trust with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, leading to lasting relationships and sustainable success. As veterans transition into civilian roles, they bring this unwavering commitment to integrity. It’s a trait that enhances corporate culture, guides ethical decision-making, and strengthens professional relationships. #Integrity #MilitaryValues #ProfessionalEthics #Day7of100 📌 7/100: Today, let’s acknowledge the importance of integrity, a cornerstone of both military discipline and professional excellence. It’s the silent force that underpins every action, decision, and interaction in our professional lives.

In the annals of American history, the story of Sergeant Alvin C. York, a hero of World War I, shines brightly. Hailing from Tennessee, York displayed extraordinary bravery in the heat of battle. In 1918, during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, he single-handedly captured 132 German soldiers, showcasing unparalleled courage and tactical prowess. His actions not only saved lives but also inspired generations. Despite the chaos of war, York's unwavering dedication to his comrades and his country illuminated the darkest of times. I recall his tale whenever I see the color blue, for in its serene depths lies a profound symbol: peace. In our technological realm, where innovation and progress thrive, I find solace in the tranquility of blue. It's more than a hue; it signifies harmony, a reminder that amidst the fast-paced world of technology, maintaining peace and balance is paramount. At our company, we embrace peace. We foster harmony within our office, nurturing an environment where creativity flourishes and relationships with our clients bloom. Just as the hero's sacrifice paved the way for peace, we strive to create a harmonious synergy within our team and with those we serve. As we navigate the digital landscape, let's remember the power of peace, unity, and balance. Let's honor the hero's legacy by fostering understanding and collaboration, for in harmony, we find our true strength. Good article. Effective counterterrorism must incorporate several elements of national power, like a good boxer with a number of different punches he can throw in combinations, and our criminal justice system is one of those punches.
Friends, I have written this opinion piece as we approach another 9/11 Anniversary. Respectfully, Chris Costa

We should go old-school on this, like the filibusters of yore: You wanna hold up the Senate's business? Fine. Stand and talk. Until you get tired of talking and no one else will stand in your place, or until 60 members tell you it's time to sit down, shut up, and vote. Other notes: I know technically this is not a filibuster. It's a procedure they put in place for unanimous consent of all pending military nominations, rather than having to vote on each one individually. Which would require endless voting, given our grotesquely bloated military nowadays. But given the fact that this hold has nothing to do with the quality of any of the candidates, and therefore cannot be resolved by removing any individual from it, this requires some adjustment to the rules. The current idea of approving nominees in blocks seems reasonable; have a regular, up-or-down vote. Let Tommy alternately whine or proclaim victory (he claims that forcing this action was his intent all along) and then move on. Oh, and by the way: our military is bloated. That's also part of the problem, here.
I got an email this morning from a retired two star Navy admiral, I have known since he was a Commander and I was Special Assistant to two CNOs. He told me that he thinks Trump is behind what Tuberville is doing, and he is trying to punish the senior military for not backing his attempt to overthrow democracy with his insurrection. Further, the admiral said Tuberville’s stupidity is doing serious damage to the senior leadership of all the services. Then, this evening, I saw this piece written by Sidney Blumenthal saying much the same thing. To be honest I knew that Tuberville is generally considered the stupidest man in Congress, which is saying a lot if one considers some of the members. But I had not thought he was acting as Trump’s tool. On balance, I think the admiral and Blumenthal may be right.
Tommy Tuberville is not acting: he really is Trump’s useful idiot | Sidney Blumenthal
