🎗️ Cancer Awareness: Together We Can Make a Difference 🎗️ As I reflect on the recent loss of my dear cousin to cancer, I am reminded of the importance of raising awareness about this devastating disease. This group of disease can start from any organ or tissue and later starts invading neighbouring organs. Lungs, Prostrate, Stomach and Liver are most common types of cancer in men. Breast, Cervical, Thyroid, Lung are major types among women. According to World Health Organization (WHO) there were approximately 18 Million cases of Cancer globally, of which 1.5 Million were from India alone. The deadly disease tolls 8 Lakh death per year and is expected to double by 2040. It is said that between 30 to 50% cancer death are preventable by avoiding tobacco, alcohol, having proper diet, reduced exposure to UV Rays, and pollution. Having Said that, Insurance agencies predict that cost for cancer treatment can range anywhere between 3 to 10 lakh. Even with schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), each year more than 6 crore Indians are Pushed below the poverty line(Parliamentary Report). Doctors suggest the “ABCDE mantra”, which offers a straightforward approach: A for A1C control, B for blood pressure management, C for cholesterol control, D for diet and exercise, and E for taking care of one's feet. He also emphasised that the young population is educated, however, the issue is that they are sometimes “reckless” and “rebellious” and controlling such behaviour often demands modulation. Dealing with cancer can be an overwhelming experience, but by raising awareness and supporting one another, we can make a positive impact in the fight against this disease. Let's come together to spread hope, raise awareness, and support those affected by cancer. Together, we can make a difference. #CancerAwareness #Support #TogetherWeCanMakeADifference #Health #Wellness #CommunitySupport #CSR References -: PMC Report -: https://lnkd.in/dm8qaXBF Economic Times - https://lnkd.in/dmfxxuBw https://lnkd.in/dmz7VeFd

Aretha Franklin, Patrick Swayze, Alan Rickan, Pavarotti…my beautiful mother. That Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month falls in November is, for me, fitting. It was late November / early December that my mother started to have itchy skin. It wasn’t dry, no rash, no change in washing powder that might have caused an allergy. But it wasn’t alarming. The itching got worse. She described it as feeling like there were fire ants crawling all over her body. Then she went yellow in mid December. More yellow than I ever knew a person could be. We knew then there was a problem, but not yet what. From there life was a whirlwind mixed with a rollercoaster. A really horrible one with a tragic, horrific end. No pancreatic cancer in our family. No reason to think that this most terrifying of cancers would ever touch our lives. It was something we could choose not to think about: it was an awful thing that happened to other people. People we didn’t know. But since my world imploded and changed forever in 2017, 3 people I know have lost loved ones to this beast of a disease. Different ages, different symptoms, same outcome. And that’s the thing with pancreatic cancer: it’s symptoms are disparate. They could be ascribed to so many other illnesses; more benign, obvious ones. Combine this with a massively overstretched healthcare system and a lack of real awareness of this cancer, and you end up with the worst of prognoses for a cancer usually found much too late to be treatable. The UK actually has one of the worst survival rates globally for this type of cancer. Early detection of this disease is crucial to be operable and to operable is the only shot of being cancer friend. Early diagnosis saves lives. And for this, there needs to be funding for research. Please do consider donating to pancreatic cancer UK. And please take some time to familiarise yourself with the signs of pancreatic cancer. Whilst I hope you will never need to know them, it may just save your life. #turnitpurple #pancreaticcancer #pancreaticcancerawareness #pancreaticcancerawarenessmonth #earlydiagnosis #cancerresearch
We're thrilled to announce that St Pancras Station in London will once again change its name to 'St PancrEas' next Thursday 16th November, to help raise vital awareness and funds on World Pancreatic Cancer Day! Our partnership with High Speed 1 (HS1) that makes this all possible, is now entering its 7th year, and we can't thank them enough for their support. 💜 This event wouldn't be complete without the wonderful Popchoir, who will be performing their crowd pleasing tunes, including popular favourites from Aretha Franklin and Patrick Swayze, who both sadly died of pancreatic cancer. Watch this space for more details coming soon! #WorldPancreaticCancerDay #PancreaticCancerAwarenessMonth
