🔁 Busy as they come 🛬 ↔️ Vietnam’s Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City air route continued to rank fourth among the top 10 busiest domestic flight routes in the world this year, according to statistics from OAG, the world's leading provider of digital flight information, intelligence, and analytics for airports, airlines, and travel tech companies. 🏆 This is the second straight year that the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route has secured fourth place. 💺 The number of seats for this route sold between October 2022 and September 2023 reached over 10.8 million. 📈 A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also said the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route is the busiest domestic one in 2023 with nearly 43,000 flights operated, equivalent to 17.5 percent of the country’s total number of domestic flights and 22 percent of total volume of domestic passengers. 🌍 This route also ranked sixth in the world in 2019. 🇰🇷 According to OAG, the busiest domestic airline route of 2023 is Jeju-Seoul in South Korea with 13.7 million seats, followed by the Hokkaido’s Chitose Airport-Tokyo Haneda and the Fukuoka-Tokyo Haneda in Japan. 🧮 As for the top 10 busiest international air routes in 2023, three of them are connected with Singapore Changi Airport and three others are linked with South Korea's Seoul Incheon. ✈️ Nine of the routes in the top 10 busiest international routes are in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, while the remaining route from London Heathrow to New York is the only one to see its capacity above the 2019 level. https://lnkd.in/gj3CauqV

Preliminary March 2024 #trafficfigures released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) showed the continuation of #robustgrowth in international #airpassenger in line with a #steadyexpansion in global economic activity. Reflecting #positivebusiness and #consumersentiment, the #airlines in Asia-Pacific region carried a combined total of 28.2 million international passengers in March, a 37.5% increase from the 20.5 million recorded in the same month last year. Traffic averaged 86.8% of 2019 volumes. As measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), demand rose by 38.6% year-on-year, with available seat capacity increasing in equal measure. As a result, the international passenger load factor at 82.0%, remained unchanged from the previous corresponding month. The above figures clearly show that Asian #airlines registered a 47% year-on-year increase in the number of #passengers carried, fuelled by a surge in demand for both #leisure and #businesstravel, culminating in a strong first quarter performance for 2024. However, #AAPA also predicts that the airline #operatingenvironment is challenging today, marked by #internationalconflicts, extreme weather events and #supplychain issues, that increase cost pressures on carriers due to re-routings, #flightdiversions and #disruptions. Nevertheless, the Asia Pacific airline industry is growing steadily, #steadfastly focused on enhancing #airconnectivity and the #travelexperience of their customers. In August, Mongolia and the United States signed an Open Skies Agreement in the hopes of “facilitating greater air connectivity between the United States and Mongolia and will provide the legal framework for nonstop passenger flights.” Mongolia also purchased its first Boeing 787 aircraft. Ulaanbaatar has signed similar agreements with national airline carriers and aviation regulators in Turkey, Vietnam, and Singapore. The Mongolia-Singapore agreement is particularly important for Mongolia to exercise the “fifth freedom of the air”: traffic rights for flights ultimately bound for a third country. Mongolia can thus use Singapore as a transit hub to connect to the Asia-Pacific markets, Europe, and the Americas. For more: https://lnkd.in/gbDg4xVi #mongolia #travel #gomongolia #WelcometoMongolia

It is less than a month until Routes World in Istanbul commences. There will be good representation at the event from each of our GMR Airports Limited portfolio and we have now put the finishing touches to the design of our wider Group exhibition stand in conjunction with our partners Groupe ADP and TAV Airports. I am optimistic this event will be positive (particularly if there are some awards successes…🤞). In terms of recent developments across our portfolio… Delhi International Airport Ltd has welcomed Egyptair (Cairo) and Belavia (Minsk) to the fold, and new connections / frequency increases to a range of other destinations either started or upcoming. Including Tashkent, Tbilisi, Male, Tel Aviv, Hong Kong (everyone’s favourite at the moment it seems), and Newark (United increasing to a 2x daily operation). There is more on the horizon as well, with potential connectivity growth into other Asian markets, plus some new key destinations in other longer haul regions expected also. In GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd Lufthansa will now start with 5x weekly services when they launch in January (increased from the originally planned 3x - a great indication of the strength of that route 😁), and we will soon welcome Salam Air (Muscat) to the airline list in a few weeks time, while also seeing strong growth on other key markets also. Manohar International Airport, Goa now has two international routes since opening for international ops recently, with London Gatwick (Air India), and Abu Dhabi (Indigo) now directly connected. In the coming weeks we will welcome Salam Air (Muscat) and Arkia (Tel Aviv), along with TUI (Gatwick and Manchester) and Oman Air (Muscat) for the winter season, in addition to others which will confirm imminently. In Kualanamu International Airport, Medan we have grown 38 weekly frequencies between June and August, with a blend of new domestic routes and capacity increases across our near haul Asian destinations. Plus the team are preparing for the new Qatar Airways service launching in January, the first direct connection to the ME region (other than Saudi). Mactan-Cebu International Airport is now ahead of pre-pandemic capacity on its domestic network in terms of weekly frequencies, with international recovery now gaining momentum in the region too; notably with the recommencement of the Turkish Airlines service from Istanbul in the coming weeks. Routes will kick start our next round of business development discussions, focused primarily on next summer season and beyond. The GMR team are all looking forward to seeing industry friends and colleagues in Istanbul, and we hope you will like our wider Group’s exhibition stand (which I’m keeping under wraps for now hence the nice Delhi airport / GMR office pic below instead 😉)…

The Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) targets to double the passenger volume at the Clark International Airport this year to 4 million, its president and chief executive officer Arrey A. Perez said Friday. In a press briefing for the Philippines’ debut at the 2024 Singapore Airshow in Taguig City, Perez remained optimistic for CIAC’s outlook this year after Clark airport nearly hit the 2-million mark for passenger volume in 2023. Perez said the introduction of new domestic and international routes at the Clark airport will drive the growth in passenger volume this year. He said the Clark airport will be opening 13 new destinations within the year including Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Coron, Davao, General Santos, Iloilo and Puerto Princesa for domestic flights, and Bangkok, Cheongju, Hong Kong, Macau, Narita and Taipei for international flights. “We’re continually expanding the operations of the Clark International Airport. The terminal building has a capacity of 8 million passengers per annum. The capacity we set now for this year is 4 million,” Perez said. He added the recovery from the pandemic and the aggressive plans for tourism will fuel the passenger traffic at the Clark airport. Aside from attracting passenger airlines, CIAC also sees expansion of more cargo operators and new players in logistics to locate in Clark. Source: Philippine News Agency https://lnkd.in/g8PAhDXU
