Background: 

Alshare’ Media Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to promote freedom of expression and access to information through creative means. With a team of journalists, artists, filmmakers, and other creative professionals, Alshare’ employs modern media tools and innovative techniques to create spaces for people to express themselves and engage in projects and initiatives that have a positive impact on their communities. Alshare’ has a 12-year history of active engagement in the Middle East, having completed 16 projects and grants.  One of their most impactful initiatives is the Prisons Museum, which is a virtual museum that offers an immersive experience through the use of advanced technology, including 3D video and information management systems. The Prisons Museum focuses on bringing awareness to the human rights abuses committed by state and non-state actors in the Middle East and North Africa region.



Job Overview: 

We are looking for a senior Social Media Manager to develop, execute, and evaluate creative social media strategies designed to increase awareness of and engagement with Prisons Museum. The Social media manager will be responsible for handling our social media presence ensuring high levels of web traffic, enhancing Museum visibility, engaging target audiences, and achieving our communication objectives. 


With assistance from the social media officers and in collaboration with the in-house digital media production and graphic design teams, the Senior Manager of Social Media will create a cohesive social media strategy in line with the museum brand and the overarching digital content strategy. In this position you will be responsible for creating Keeping abreast of social media trends and informed by the performance of the museum content across all owned social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and TikTok), the Senior Manager of Social Media defines the goals for each channel and sets the strategy to reach them. 


This role requires a creative and analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of various social media platforms beside the background of the subject matter. Our museum leverages digital platforms to engage global audiences with innovative exhibitions and educational content.



Responsibilities:

  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to increase visibility, engagement, and traffic to the Virtual Museum website.
  • Create and curate social media content calendar (including text, images, videos) that aligns with the museum’s mission and resonates with our diverse audience.
  • Manage and maintain all social media channels (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube) and leverage each platform’s unique features to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Collaborate closely with the Content Team to align social media initiatives with virtual exhibitions, events, and educational programs.
  • Track and analyze social media metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and derive insights for continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on emerging digital technologies and social media tools to enhance campaign performance and audience engagement.


Requirements:

  • Proven 3-5 years of experience as a Social Media Manager or in a similar role, preferably in the cultural, arts, or educational sector.
  • Solid understanding of social media platforms, analytics tools, and best practices for content creation and distribution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and creativity.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Art History, Museum Studies, or a relevant field is preferred. 
  • Advanced English language proficiency in both spoken and written forms. Good knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
