The Role
Reporting to the Executive Manager the Senior Planning Officer will own the accountability of the Planning portfolio’s strategic and statutory land functions including enforcing and reviewing the Planning scheme, structure plans, local planning strategy and scheme amendments within the Shire of Exmouth to achieve sustainable development through economic growth, environmental and social development.
Responsibilities
The Senior Planner will also be accountable for the following activities:
Provide professional advice on sustainable development.
Administer land use planning roles and functions.
Develop and review the planning scheme and amendments.
Process development applications and establish compliance.
Assist in land development projects and future growth planning.
Coordinate Crown Land administration functions.
Review and enforce local laws on government property and public places.
Adhere to department policies and develop operational practices, building positive relationships with stakeholders and overseeing the Planning portfolio team and delegate tasks.
Qualifications and Skills
Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or similar.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role.
Consulting with public utility authorities and managing contractors where applicable.
Ability to lead a team.
High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
High level of computer literacy.
Valid permanent Australian work rights
