As the Quality Engineering Lead specializing in HVDC Control & Protection, you'll play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, reducing costs of poor quality, and ensuring adherence to quality standards in HVDC Engineering. Reporting directly to the HVDC Engineering Quality Leader, your primary focus will be on safeguarding engineering quality throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Quality Leadership:Proactively lead the improvement of standard work application, reduction of Cost of Poor Quality, and Non-Conformity resolution time in HVDC Engineering, ensuring that engineering quality is at the forefront of all initiatives.
  • NPI Support:Ensure that Key Market requirements and Return of Experience (RoEs) are incorporated into New Product Introductions (NPls). Facilitate risk assessment studies using Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA) during NPI stages.
  • OTR Handover:Ensure thorough study of project requirements during Order to Remittance (OTR) handover, noting risks and opportunities and developing risk mitigation plans.
  • Gate Reviews:Actively participate in Design, Technical, System, and Gate Reviews, ensuring adherence to relevant processes and customer requirements.
  • Engineering Change Management:Review Engineering Change Management (ECM) deployment on projects and ensure timely implementation and adherence to processes.
  • Project Monitoring:Monitor project engineering progress during monthly reviews and develop recovery plans for off-track Key Performance Indicators (KP/s).
  • Non-Conformity Resolution:Lead non-conformity and customer complaint reviews, emphasizing timely and quality resolution through containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
  • Problem Solving:Lead Problem Solving Reports (PSRs) and 8D (Eight Disciplines processes for medium to high complexity issues.
  • Lesson Learned Forums:Lead Lesson Learned (LL) forums to capture, validate, and release lessons, ensuring continuous improvement of design guidelines, processes, templates, and checklists.
  • Process Improvement:Review Budget Deviation Requests (BDRs) and drive improvement actions. Guide, coach, mentor, and support teams on quality tools and processes.
  • Collaboration:Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams within and outside the organization to resolve project issues in a timely manner.
  • Audits and Kaizen:Lead process audits, contribute to external audit preparation, and facilitate/lead/contribute to Kaizen events for process improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:Undergraduate/Postgraduate degree in Electrical/Electronic/Control Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Experience:Significant professional experience in Quality/Engineering and working in Projects/Programs within a global, multi-cultural, and matrix organization.

Desired Characteristics

  • Quality Management:Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001 and certification as an auditor.
  • Industry Experience:Experience in the Transmission & Distribution industry, especially in the Valves domain.
  • Professional Skills:Self-driven with strong collaboration skills, ability to influence discussions constructively, and motivate and inspire others.
  • Analytical Skills:Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to make data-based decisions.
  • Language:Proficiency in English (verbal and written) and ability to travel regionally and internationally as needed.
  • Continuous Improvement:Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and a passion for quality and continuous improvement.
