Medical Science Liaison (m/f/d)

Greater Frankfurt area / hybrid

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Senior Medical Lead, this position operates within a matrix environment with closes cross-functional collaboration with all important departments and partner. Most notably, this position works proactively and transparently with the regional sales teams. The MSL reports to the Senior Medical Lead and implements and tracks the medical Affairs plan in cooperation with marketing and field operations, in order to influence and change the practice of medicine, according to local therapeutic strategies. The MSL supports the medical, marketing and sales department in the development of regional medical tactics for the therapeutic areas/products and maximizes our client`s value proposition through medical and scientific projects, services and expertise, for benefit of patients, according to the global and regional strategies. The MSL works independently and in alignment with the national company strategy in his region and network. He is responsible for the concrete implementation of the Medical Plan and is the scientific bridge between the external experts and our client. The position holder is required to bring a scientific background, experience in the pharmaceutical industry and medical Affairs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifies, develops and maintains collaborative scientific relationships with current and future regional experts and opinion leaders, key centres and local collaborative groups and develops required qualitative and quantitative reports
  • Establishment and support of regional and nationwide networks Fosters medical and scientific information and data exchange from the medical community to our client
  • Delivery of balanced scientific data internally and externally
  • Ensures of up-to-date information of speakers and external experts in respect to our client`s products and therapeutic areas
  • Scientific communication on therapeutic principles and products Implements and disseminates high quality complex scientific information, innovative medical education materials and research concepts to external experts, including speakers preparation and slides kit development
  • Provide medical-scientific support for medications internally and externally Create, organizes and completely manage regional and national advisory boards, regional expert meetings and other scientific events and educational symposia at local congresses with key stakeholders
  • Supports national medical strategy
  • Medical support of local and/or international studies and clinical projects (e.g. Study protocol, safety)
  • Generates insights and collects and reports competitive intelligence derived from the market and scientific meetings
  • Develops congress reports/summary slides decks of important congresses
  • Ensures one`s continuing education, willing to self-studying and open for training concepts
  • Supports external experts in development concepts and protocols for IITs or other medical projects that support our client's products
  • Ensures compliance with GMA, SOPs, GCP and ICH, compliance policies and procedures, relevant country reports as well as with legal and ethical standards
  • Support commercial field force and corporate account efforts related to presenting clarity around clinical and scientific information supporting therapeutic decisions in patient care
  • Active participation and professional support at commercial meetings
  • Supports internal medical trainings
  • Works with marketing and sales to ensure prioritization of key accounts


Skills /knowledge Required

  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry,
  • Field experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Scientific knowledge in immunology and oncology is most helpful
  • Documented medical od scientific experience, scientific background
  • Knowledge of Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, legal and compliance environment
  • Network of customer contact helpful
  • Strong customer orientation, science based, and marketing minded
  • Experience or knowledge of the German health System and health care decision making
  • Strong project management skills and medical affairs skills Excellent communication and presentation skills, scientific and non-scientific
  • Good English skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Valid driver`s license
  • Strong identification with our client`s values and visions
