Job Summary:

SailGP seeks a full-time experienced Marketing & Communications Manager in Germany who will work closely with the independently-owned Germany SailGP Team to grow the League in Germany.


The role will report directly to the Head of Marketing, EMEA, and Head of Comms, EMEA, both based in London. This role is best suited to an individual with a strong understanding of marketing, communications and event marketing. It is essential to be a native German speaker, based in Germany, although English will be required to liaise with the SailGP Global Marcomms team.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement a growth-based integrated marketing and communications strategy to substantially increase awareness & following of the League in Germany.
  • Manage the retained local Marcomms agency in order to deliver this strategy.
  • Communications - develop a long-term communications strategy for the German market. Leverage the League’s global news moments in market, as well as generate regular media coverage (b2b and b2c) focussed on the League, German team and its athletes. advantageous.
  • Event marketing - develop marcomms plans for physical in-market events that will build awareness, drive engagement and ticket sales. Specialist knowledge of driving attendance to sport /music/entertainment/cultural events an advantage.
  • Fan engagement - work closely with the Director of Fan Engagement and Director of Social to establish and execute a German market fan engagement and retention strategy.
  • Broadcast - work closely with the Global Head of Broadcast to leverage opportunities to drive viewership and awareness in the local market.
  • Content - develop long-term local content strategy & distribution plans for the German market.
  • Spectator experience - develop, market & deliver spectator experience products for the German market.
  • Research & insights - work closely with the Global Data & Insights Manager to manage a German market research programme and evaluate insights to advise on local market strategy.
  • Stakeholder management - liaise with relevant local governing bodies to develop mutually beneficial relationships
  • Manage the creation of external communications materials in German, in collaboration with global colleagues. This will include the development of press materials, artwork, copy and content, and copywriting for a variety of communications channels.
  • Identify unique local marketing opportunities aligned with business priorities and deliver campaigns & activations against them.
  • Coordinate with global and local colleagues to deliver media & commercial partner rights, benefits and client servicing.
  • Develop a deep understanding of regional business priorities.
  • Work with retained agencies and global colleagues, collaborating with the Germany SailGP Team and other stakeholders as required.
  • Engage in stakeholder management across the organisation, locally and globally with cross-functional teams.
  • Other duties as defined by SailGP.
  • Ad-hoc travel to events & meetings.

About You:

  • Extensive relevant industry experience, preferably in a fast-paced, sports environment or events background
  • Solid and demonstrable marketing, communications, commercial and events experience
  • Established network and strong understanding of media contacts and publications in local market
  • A passion for sport, entertainment and sustainability
  • Strong business acumen, structured problem solver with excellent project management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical and organizational communication skills
  • Fluent in German and English (written and verbal)
