Institution: Regional Data Center (RRZ), Basic Infrastructure Department
The RRZ ( https://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/ueber-uns/leitbild.html ) is the service and competence center for providing all user groups of the University with IT services and science-oriented (high-performance) IT infrastructures as part of the cooperative IT supply concept of the University of Hamburg. To this end, the RRZ operates high-performance information, communication and media technology infrastructures as well as the corresponding application systems and user services.
Field of activity
Plan, operate and further develop virtual server and desktop infrastructures
Design and set up test environments for the analysis of new virtualization software
Ensure and automate server operation with the help of PowerShell
Analyze software updates
Implement measures to increase security, reliability and operational optimization of server operation
Analyze incidents and eliminate and track security-relevant incidents
Create and maintain documentation
3rd level support for the RRZ Service Desk in the area of virtualization
Recruitment requirement
University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science or a comparable field of study
or
equivalent skills, experience and qualifications, e.g. Bachelor's degree (IT or comparable) with many years of relevant professional experience
In the case of the latter recruitment requirements, the assessment of equivalent skills, experience and qualifications takes place at the time of recruitment.
Required Specialist Knowledge And Personal Skills
Sound knowledge in the field of IT systems technology
many years of experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, their installation, configuration and secure operation
Many years of experience in the operation and configuration of products for the virtualization of servers and desktop systems
sound knowledge of the PowerShell programming language
Experience in operating large server and virtualization infrastructures
Knowledge in the configuration of hardware servers, preferably Dell PowerEdge
Experience in planning and implementing complex concepts
Very good German and good written and spoken English skills
Good understanding of English-language specialist literature
High degree of independence and sense of responsibility
Ability to work in a team and service-oriented behavior towards customers
