To support and drive our Hitachi Energy HSE policies we are looking for an experienced HUB HSE Manager. You will improve existing programs, implement best-practices to ensure an exemplary health & safety culture as well as a strong focus on the environment throughout the HUB EUC. You will lead, coach, support and provide advice to OU’s and HUB Management Team and Line Managers on HSE matters and report on the performances of the respective organization.

This position can be fulfilled completely remotely in Europe, we are prioritizing skills and experience over physical work location.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible to govern, foster, support implementation and continuous improvement of the health, safety and environment proactive and positive culture in the HBU and aligned with the BU HSE improvement plan and the Hitachi Energy HSE policy
  • Provide support, leadership and advice in order to ensure consistency in the implementation, application and compliance of the HSE Management System Standards in High Voltage Products operating units (OU) within the European HUB
  • Provide support to operating units to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 3rd party certification in all OU’s within the HUB
  • Coach people at all levels of the organization with methods and training to realize an exemplary safety culture. Develop functional competence to ensure a highly professional and competent HSE function is evident in the High Voltage Products European HUB
  • HUB wide ownership of HSE performance including timely reporting of HSE incidents, ensure robust investigations and the generation of Lessons learned materials
  • Report progress on implementation of High Voltage Products, Hitachi Energy HSE objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Coordinate and align HSE initiatives and actions with the aim of standardization within the HUB and track progress of implementation
  • Contributes to effective risk management of HSE related issues by providing specialist knowledge and advice on key business decisions to the HUB and OU management team(s)
  • Promotes Hitachi Energy HSE culture to our clients, other departments and employee groups. Share the information to promote the awareness of Hitachi Energy procedures relating HSE
  • Ensures that delivery of training, audit and support for key risk programs are optimized through the respective center of expertise for the respective HUB
  • Manages the local HSE Managers of the HBU EUC. Defines HSE strategy, main actions and follows up implementation
  • Build a strong, professional, effective and efficient HSE team in the HUB
  • Implement and follow up an effective governance structure with KPI’s and meaningful reports
  • Provide support to operating units to achieve HSE legal compliance and control the conformity
  • Represents the HBU EUC in the BU and takes a leading position in High Voltage Products for HSE

Your background

  • University level education in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical engineering, industrial manufacturing/processes)
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in an HSE function in industrial manufacturing setting
  • Excellent knowledge of local and general HSE regulatory requirements (e.g. Legislation, ISO45001 & ISO14001)
  • Ability to successfully support, persuade and influence senior management teams in a highly matrixed environment
  • Capable of working autonomously with remote and global teams and delivering in complex working environments
  • Excellent Local and English skills both orally and in writing
  • Openness to travel 50% within Europe
