Head of Finance

Gibson Watts are delighted to be working with a well-known manufacturing business in seek of a Head of Finance to lead their accounting function in Germany.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensures the booking of all financial and accounting entries in accordance with statutory and group requirements (account payables, account receivables, fixed assets, stock/production entries, etc). Reports, analyzes, and assures the integrity of all financial information, including monthly internal financial reporting for management.
• Supervises and oversees work prepared by staff accountant in regards to booking financial and accounting transactions.
• Completes quarterly account reconciliations of certain general ledger accounts. Approves staff accountant reconciliations quarterly.
• Supervises the month-end and year-end statutory closing in accordance with local and group deadlines.
• Supervises the preparation and submissions of the statutory declarations/reports : VAT, payroll declarations, income tax, financial statements, local taxes declaration, statistics reports
• Maintain the collaboration relationships with internal and external auditors and responsible for the annual statutory audit with external auditors. Prepares required work papers and analysis.
• Responsible for legal compliance in regards to financial transactions and reporting.
• Responsible for fixed assets management, preparing IAR’s and ROI’s for fixed asset investments, and booking of capital movements for statutory accounting;
• Coordinates and participates in preparation of the quarterly and annual financial plan and projections.
• Coordinates and participates in implementing new reporting/ financial-accounting record systems.
• Coordinates and participates in elaborating and implementing the procedures and internal policies according to the generally accepted accounting principles, the company procedures and the legal provisions in force.
• Perform other related duties and special projects that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

• Full recognised accountancy qualification.
• 5+ years business accounting experience with emphasis in compliance GAAP and Germany regulations.
• Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
• Drive for – and proven success in driving – continued improvement of business, function and systems.
• Leverages technology and systems to drive efficiencies.
• Strong teamwork & business partnership skills and experience.
• Strong leader and coach with focus on career and professional development of staff.
• Strong English and German language proficiency.
• Advanced ERP knowledge/exposure
• Advanced Microsoft Excel ability.
