Within our Global Brand Innovation and Sustainability (GBIS) unit at Essity, our mandate at Product Safety, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs (SCR) is to enable the success of our products in the market, based on high product safety standards, clinical evidence, and compliance with applicable regulations within our certified quality management systems.

To enhance our readiness for new business and regulatory demands, we created a team called “Global Regulatory Operation and Initiatives.” This team serves as the first point of contact for topics that are new to Global Product Safety, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs (SCR) or will have an impact across multiple SCR teams.

We are looking for the Global Regulatory Operations and Initiatives Director.

The position will be part of the SCR leadership team and report to the VP Product Safety, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs. The position can be based out of our offices in Gothenburg, Sweden or Hamburg, Germany

About The Role

This role will, in line with the business strategy and collaboration with the SCR leadership team and network, act as Business Partner to internal and external stakeholders for business-, assortment- or process-related topics which are either new to SCR and/or will impact multiple SCR teams and/or the regulatory network.

What You Will Do

  • Drive projects and activities that affect multiple SCR teams/capabilities.
  • Act as a Business Partner for interfaces affecting multiple SCR teams/capabilities, e.g., ways of working with R&D, IT, Sourcing, Public Affairs, Sustainability, ensuring one voice and coordinating these topics internally.
  • Act as the Business Partner for Categories and BUs for designing and implementing strategic business improvement initiatives, including solutions for new systems, databases and digitalization opportunities. Identify needs and bridge with ad hoc solutions until a permanent solution/accountability is put in place.
  • Build and develop a monitoring and communication system for new and revised regulations standards, and guidelines affecting the market authorization of our products.
  • Recommend and steer the SCR digital tools strategy towards implementation.
  • Coordinate the global RA network through information and best practice exchange.
  • Lead your own team and lead in the matrix.
  • Drive and ensure that the organization develops the required capabilities and understanding in relation to SCR requirements and implements solutions, such as training concepts and SCR communication (Communication page, SharePoint).
  • Actively participate in trade associations or other organizations to represent the organization’s agreed positions and strategy.
  • Contribute to the overall SCR strategy as part of the SCR leadership team.

Who You Are

  • University degree in life sciences, natural science, or engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the regulatory/product safety compliance area of medical devices, cosmetics, and/or biocides gained in an international environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in working and achieving results in a matrix organization, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Successfully engaged with multiple-level stakeholders to reach the best result for the business.
  • Driven personality with the ability to engage others for a joint target.
  • Compelling communication and presentation skills for different audiences with divergent interests, both orally and in writing.
  • Good process understanding, but not dependent on process.
  • Ability to maneuver between a holistic view and detailed level.
  • Courage to lead in uncertainty.
  • Passion for leading and developing people.
  • Fluent in English; any other relevant language is an advantage.
