Our client is a growing greentech venture capital fund supporting start-ups that generate positive impact on the planet while achieving profitable, scalable growth. They are currently seeking a fund CFO to develop and execute their financial strategy, aligned with their mission to support sustainable and impactful investments. The team is based in Berlin, but the role can be executed across Germany or Europe (at least 6 months residence in Germany is required). What the job involves
As a Chief Financial Officer you are responsible to develop and execute their financial strategy, aligned with their mission to support sustainable and impactful investments. This role will involve leading fundraising initiatives, overseeing financial functions, and providing strategic financial insights to optimize the investment portfolio.
Develop and execute the financial strategy, aligning with the companies' mission to support sustainable and impactful investments
Lead fundraising initiatives for the upcoming fund and future investment vehicles
Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
Ensure timely and accurate financial information is available to support decision-making
Work closely with the investment team to assess the financial viability and risks of potential investments
Support the investment team in deals, particularly in negotiating the details and legal clauses of contracts: lead and co-ordinate the closing of investments once term sheets have been signed (with external legal support)
Provide strategic financial insights to optimize the investment portfolio for both financial returns and environmental impact
Manage relationships with investors, partners, and financial institutions Communicate financial performance and strategic direction effectively
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
Who we are looking for
University degree in Finance, Business Administration, or relevant field with excellent grades
Extensive experience in a senior financial leadership role, preferably with a background in venture capital/ private equity, and fund management within Germany
In-depth knowledge of the German financial regulatory environment and a solid understanding of global investment strategies
Exceptional analytical, strategic, and decision-making skills
Excellent knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
Strong leadership qualities and the ability to manage high-performing teams
Able to work hard, be flexible, and take ownership
Entrepreneurial spirit and not shy away from hands-on work when needed
Fluency in both German and English
