Field Quality Engineer


Contract Role


Industry: Aerospace/Defense

Location: Primary Remote 80% of the time. Potential travel may occur within regional area.

Pay rate: USD 80.00 per hour (or euro equivalent)

Duration: 1 year

Frequency: Full-time

Duration: 1 year


We are looking for an experienced Field Quality Engineer to work as an Independent Contractor to support our Customer at one of their supplier's sites in Frankfurt. This would ideally suit candidates who already based in Germany as relocation, flights or accommodation costs are not included with this contract.


Duties:

First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)

  • Using the First Article Inspection process, IAW customer procedures.
  • Review and disposition Supplier FAIR packaged in Net Inspect and shall ensure compliance with AS9102 industry standard requirements.
  • Activities to include paperwork review, over-inspection, and working with the supplier to resolve any non-compliance with the AS9102 & Customer requirements.

Self-Release (SR) Audits

  • Using the Product Release process IAW checklist & Customer procedures the FQE Self Releases Audits at assigned suppliers.
  • Activities for completion of SR Audits will include paperwork review, working with suppliers to resolve non-compliance to the Customer and industry requirements

APQP

  • APQP review activities will be in accordance with Customer procedures and industry requirements at assigned suppliers.
  • Activities shall include review of APQP packages, artifact checklist review and disposition of APQP artifacts and Part Submission warranting support.
  • FQE shall work with their assigned suppliers to resolve non-compliances to the requirements.


Required Skills

  • Experience in reviewing Advanced Product Quality Packages (APQP)
  • Experience in reviewing and approving First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) per AS9102.
  • Must be proficient in Geometrical, Dimension and Tolerancing. (GD&T)
  • Must be able to pass a written GD&T exam with a score of 90% or higher.
  • Experience with layout and precision inspection techniques and the utilization of inspection hand tools to validate product conformity.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Quality engineering experience. (ASQ, CQA, or CQE certifications)
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and product family’s
  • In-depth knowledge & usage of Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) tools
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 or equivalent Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Experience performing audits for customer Self Release Audit Program.
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starting, self-directed individual.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of mechanical, Electro Mechanical and/or electrical products & processes. (Depends on location)
  • Technical knowledge of castings (Depends on location)
  • Technical knowledge of Circuit-Card Assemblies (Depends on location)
  • Proficient using common software (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, etc.)
  • Must complete the Customer Job Qualifications requirements within 6 months.
  • Must be a citizen of the country that the work will be performed in
  • BA/BS degree in a technical discipline (i.e., engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance) with 5 years of experience in aerospace, automotive and/or other related industries
  • In lieu of a formal education, at least 13 years of progressive experience in aerospace, automotive and/or other related industries

Desirable Skills

  • IPC 610 certified or trained.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System requirements
  • Process control & continuous improvement tools.
  • ASQ, CQA, or CQE certification
  • RAB auditor accreditation
  • Experience managing projects.
