Director* HR Systems

The Director* of HR Systems will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of our global HR systems to ensure efficient processes, accurate data management, reporting, and analysis.

You collaborate with key stakeholders to align HR systems with business objectives, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and propose/implement system enhancements. You lead and mentor a diverse team of specialists, fostering a culture of high performance, engagement, and continuous learning. Additionally, you collaborate with vendors to understand their product roadmaps, align their offerings with the organization's needs, and negotiate contracts and service-level agreements to maximize value and efficiency.

This position is based out of our Mainz headquarter. An office presence of min. 50% is required.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Build a high performing team by developing, attracting, and engaging existing and new team members
  • Lead HR systems strategy and operations, while providing forward leaning new technical solutions across all geographies
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive HRIS roadmap and serve as an expert for all system-related questions in the HR area (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, ATOSS)
  • Function as a strong customer service minded partner to various stakeholders within and outside of Human Resources (e.g. Center of Expertise; HR Business Partners, Legal, IT, Procurement, Compliance, Works Council)
  • Lead complex projects related to HR technology harmonization, including change management, communication, training, and stakeholder engagement, to facilitate smooth transitions and user adoption
  • Identify potentials for further development of technology-supported HR processes and drive digitalization in the HR area
  • Develop global HR technology standards, policies, and guidelines to ensure uniformity, data consistency, and effective system governance across various geographies
  • Ensure the compliance with legal requirements at a global and regional level, e.g. Data Protection & Privacy; Sarbanes-Oxley Act; General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Support and evolve (annual) HR processes, such as Objective Setting, Performance Evaluation, Compensation Planning, Learning Management, Onboarding, Offboarding, etc.
  • Manage strategic relationships with external technology- and services partners. Act as a primary contract, lead vendor selection activities and contract negotiations
  • Monitor the performance of HR technology systems, identify opportunities for process improvement, enhancement of data accuracy, and reduction of manual processes; partner with IT teams to address technical and infrastructural issues
  • Identify opportunities to leverage modern AI and automation technologies (e.g. LLM, GenAI, Machine Learning, Robotic Process Automation)
  • Provide guidance and support to HR staff and system users to maximize their understanding and utilization of HR technologies, incl. AI and automation
  • Stay connected to industry trends and emerging HR technology offerings as well as best practices

What you have to offer:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in HR Systems, HRIS, Human Resources, Consulting or a related field
  • Experience in leading a high-performing team of HR specialists in a global, fast-growing, and agile organization
  • Experience with technologies such as SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow or other similar systems
  • Demonstrate strong skills in project management, vendor management, and negotiation; as well as in communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of legal requirements related to Works Council, EU-DSGVO, IT-security, and HR-IT relevant SOC/SOX controls
  • Knowledge of HR processes, data management, and reporting combined with knowledge of emerging HR technologies, trends, and best practices
  • Fluency in both German and English is required
