About us

We are a bootstrapped startup based in Munich, now looking for a late Co-Founder / CTO to help us build our digital product, incorporating what we have learned so far in our discovery and validation stages.

At Joy and Meal, we’re rebuilding the food system from scratch, redefining who can participate in the food economy, returning personal connection to the making, eating, and sharing of food, and bringing freshly cooked meals again to the table while promoting healthier diets with less ultra-processed foods.

Joy and Meal is an end-to-end digital platform enabling “COOKING AS A SERVICE” for families and corporate teams. Customers can book a cooking service with just a few clicks, and among a large pool of cooks, meals, and kitchens, our platform orchestrates the perfect match for their needs. Our services are currently available in Munich, Berlin, and Frankfurt. Joy and Meal is not the next unusable rent-a-chef website with expensive fancy-named dishes. We facilitate great home-made food in everyday life, helping fulfill nutritional needs and increase meal satisfaction.

We are building the first integrated ecosystem that provides the software infrastructure and orchestrates the physical resources needed for cooking services for meal prepping, casual events, and cooking classes. Just as Uber revolutionized the taxi services, we are going to lead the on-demand cooking sector towards fully digitalized work arrangements, creating a win-win situation for everyone involved.

With a growing pool of cooks, EU-support (NEB Catalyse and EITFood), and paying customers like Amazon, CHECK24 and Universal Pictures, we believe that our product has the potential to transform the food system and make a positive impact in the society and the wellbeing of many people. Your tasks

• As a technical late co-founder, you play a key role in driving forward the company's mission, vision, and help us build the company at the seed stage.
• You bring our MVP to the next level and turn it iteratively into a fully scalable product, in the beginning by writing the code yourself.
• You are responsible for the strategic planning and technical implementation of the platform.
• You will continuously develop the technology/IT, put plans into action, and ensure smooth operations.
• You lead collaborations with technology partners, technology advisors, and will help build a software development team.
• You represent the interests of the company together with the management and will support the fundraising round with your technical strategic plans.

Your profile

• You are a full-stack developer
• You have a get-sh*t-done mentality
• Ideally, you already have previous experience in building digital products/services from scratch; either your own projects or in a startup
• Technical experience in any or several of those: Double sided marketplaces, E-commerce platforms, CQP quoting software, Dynamic pricing software, Digital payments; Matching algorithms.
• Data Science or Machine Learning knowledge is a plus.
• If you have already founded a startup is a +++plus.
• You are fluent in English; German preferable but not required.
• You are as passionate about great food as we are.
• You have an agile mindset – build, measure & learn at a fast pace.
• You need to have the ability and willingness to learn constantly and improve your skillset
• You are based in Europe CET +/-2h.

Our offer

We work as a 100% remote team at first, with occasional meetings in Munich.

We are currently fundraising. Until funding is secured, we work only with equity compensation. Part-time engagement is ok at first but full-time will be required once we have closed the fundraising round. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to build your own impact company from scratch, with a validated product idea and making the world a bit more sustainable. You'll grow with the startup with an attractive compensation and participation model.
