Chief Operating Officer (COO) (gn)

Your mission

As krisenchat's COO (gn), you will play a central role in implementing our strategic vision by leading and optimisig our daily business operations, driving continuous improvement and fostering a positive company culture. Your leadership and commitment are critical to advancing our mission and making a lasting impact on society.

You accompany krisenchat in an important developmental step of maturing the organization from dozens of employees to 100+ and set us up for further growth and development.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Strategy: Translate krisenchat’s vision and strategic roadmap into an internal operating system and structure that runs smoothly. Ensure that all departments work synergistically.
  • Organisational Development: Facilitate continuous organisational development in a changing and growing company, focussing on good change communication to all stakeholders
  • Team Coordination and Management: Oversee the daily operations of various departments, including the chat service and Marketing/Content ensuring effective collaboration between units as well as within leadership. Facilitate potential interdepartmental differences and ensure smooth communication.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve operational processes to enhance service efficiency and user satisfaction. Implement best practices in workflow management to streamline operations.
  • Scalability and Growth: Plan and implement strategies for scaling operations to support growth in helpseekers’ base and service offerings. Adapt operational frameworks to support new products and services developed by the leadership team.
  • Performance Metrics: Co-Develop KPIs for operational efficiency. Monitor these metrics and provide reports to the executive team on current performance and necessary adjustments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including team members, funders, and partners, to ensure they are aligned with the organisation’s goals and operations.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that the organisation complies with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, especially those related to data protection and mental health services. Manage risks that could impact operational efficiency and company reputation.

In Collaboration With The Executive Team, Drive

  • Culture Building: Foster a culture that is human, based on trust, multiperspectivity, constant evolution and impact focus which strives for constant evolution and high impact.
  • Leadership Development: Cultivate leadership skills within the team, with a focus on a high-potential program for (junior) managers
  • Operationalizing new products: Work with the CXO and CTO to facilitate the operational integration of new products and services. Ensure that new product developments are viable from an operational perspective.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage resources effectively, ensuring that the right tools and personnel are available to meet operational needs without overstreching the budget.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of service delivery, ensuring that all user interactions meet the organisation’s quality criteria. Implement quality assurance protocols to monitor and improve service delivery.

Your profile

  • You have a minimum of ~ eight years experience in comparable executive management roles in quickly-scaling environments, preferably in startups or scaleups. Experience in the health sector, digital services or social economy is valued.
  • A proven track record presents strong leadership skills for managing cross-functional teams and fostering a collaborative and mindful work environment.
  • You have a new work mindset, that is comfortable with working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • As the right candidate you are strongly aligned with our vision and you have a strong connection to topics of inner development
  • You are characterised by a good balance between a clear drive to act and continuous personal development as manager
  • Your interdisciplinary communication skills are well above average, which you have already proven through successful transformation processes as well as purposeful external communication into a network of external partners and liaisons.
  • You are an experienced practitioner when it comes to setting up and implementing key figures in the digital (health) business and can lead your teams through the implementation process.
  • Empathetic leadership is your daily business in German as well as in English - both languages should be on C1 to C2 level.
  • Condition for employment: An impeccable extended certificate of good conduct, as we work in the context of minors and/or persons seeking help.

About Us

krisenchat is a nationwide, free support service for children and young adults in need. We offer children and young people professional psychosocial counselling - every day, 24 hours a day, via WhatsApp or text message. krisenchat has been available 24/7 since the beginning of May 2020 - since then, the many crisis counselors have been able to help in over 120.000 crisis situations. Since 1 March 2022, krisenchat Ukrainian has also been providing confidential crisis counseling in Ukrainian and Russian for people affected by war at any age - with over 23.000 consultations provided. In addition to crisis counseling, krisenchat reaches many millions of young people every year through psychoeducation via social media platforms.

We are an interdisciplinary and agile non-profit organization and work flexibly from our beautiful office in Berlin or from home.
