One of our operating companies is Bauking- number one market-leading distributors of building materials in Germany, offering a ‘one- stop-shop’ with a wide range of materials and services for professional builders and private customers active in the residential and renovation end markets. With 4400 employees across 130 locations, Bauking is constantly growing though numerous acquisitions. There is a high need for the Director IT & Digital that could transform the current IT landscape.

Purpose of the Role

The CIO (Director Digital & IT) at Bauking is responsible for running the IT in a secure, robust, resilient and cost-effective way. As such (s)he is responsible for and managing a team of IT professionals as well local supplier management, partner closely with the Bauking Management Team as well as the Group CIO at BME, to actively drive the execution of the BME Digital & IT Strategy at Bauking.

Along with this, current IT and Digital need to be transformed to a state-of-the-art Digital, Data and IT Management function.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Develop, align and communicate Bauking Digital & IT strategy and roadmap in conjunction with Group Digital & IT strategy and functional and application architecture guidelines
• Implement IT Service Management following Group Standards
• Adhere to and implement group Information Security Management System
• Drive the data- & digitalization transformation to stay ahead of the competitors
• Develop and implement roadmap to systematically improve data quality, Data Management processes and organization, especially in for Supplier, Product and Customer Masterdata
• Establish strong governance towards secure IT solutions, - interfaces, - and landscape for future (external) threats
• Systematically close current organizational capability gaps and lead towards a state-of-the-art Digital/IT organization
• Build a high performing, highly engaged Digital & IT team, focusing on adding tangible business value, and continuous learning
• Act as change agent across the organization to promote modern approaches to value creation through data and technology
• Build and present business case(s) for IT & digital initiatives based on industry trends, customer and/or business need and scalable growth
• Review and monitor IT risk management challenges for business platforms, understanding key short, medium- and long-term impacts and countermeasures

Education and Experience

• Studies in the field of computer science / business informatics or comparable qualification
• At least 7+years’ experience as a Business/IT leader, with the most recent years having been spent in a dynamic organization, preferably in an international wholesale/retail environment
• Experience in running a Digital/IT function in a complex environment within a multi-country matrix organization on CIO level
• Experience in ERP implementations
• Proficient in planning and implementing applications and infrastructure programmes,
• Demonstrated experience in championing large-scale transformation and consolidation programs
• Proven experience in being a sparring partner for business leaders
• Proven knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. Azure) and applications
• Knowledgeable in modern data and IT architecture principles
• A stable career track with clear career progression
• Fluent in German and English

Location

The team is mainly based in Dortmund. You will divide your time between working in Dortmund (3 days) and from home (2 days), as we have a hybrid working policy
