The Munich-based Die ARCHE Kinderstiftung helps children and adolescents from socially disadvantaged backgrounds in the city’s Moosach district. After 18 years of cooperation and over €1.8 million in donations, many Arche children have grown up with WACKER's support. We at WACKER have been a reliable partner to the charity since its launch in 2006. Board member Angela Woerl joined this year’s summer party to hand over a donation of €100.000. By applying suitable insulation measures, we’re saving more than 100 kW of energy at our Nünchritz site. Robot dogs support machine operators during inspection rounds +++ At the Achema, the world’s largest chemical engineering tradeshow held in June in Frankfurt, five teams demonstrated various industrial robots that can take on tasks traditionally carried out by machine operators in the chemical industry, for example monitoring production by means of regular inspection rounds. A consortium of various industrial companies – comprising BASF, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim and WACKER – announced a competition called the AIRA Challenge. AIRA stands for Advanced Industrial Robotic Applications. The target of the challenge 2024 was remote controlled robotics. The competition was won by system integrator Roboverse Reply DE that has adapted a robot from Boston Dynamics to the requirements of various customers. “These advanced robots can hear, smell and even feel thanks to sophisticated sensor technology and are therefore suitable for assisting our machine operators during their regular inspection rounds,” says Stefan Schneiderbauer, Head of Factory Automation at Engineering, responsible for a pilot project using such industrial robots.
