We Bring Urban Air Mobility to Life.
Info
Volocopter brings urban air mobility (UAM) to megacities worldwide. We aim to improve the quality of life for people in cities by offering a fantastic new mode of transportation. For that, we create sustainable and scalable UAM ecosystems with partners in infrastructure and operations. Volocopter will offer passengers swift, secure, and emission-free connections to their destinations, supported by VoloIQ, the UAM ecosystem’s software platform that serves as its digital backbone for safe and efficient operations. As a pioneer in the UAM industry, Volocopter will launch commercial services within the next year. Founded in 2011, the company employs more than 500 people in Germany and Singapore, has completed over 2,000 successful public and private test flights, and raised more than $600 million in equity from investors, including, Mercedes-Benz Group, Sumitomo Corporation, Japan Airlines, Tokyo Century, and NTT Communications, and BlackRock www.volocopter.com Data-protection Declaration: https://www.volocopter.com/en/privacy/ Community Guidelines: https://www.volocopter.com/community-guidelines/ Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: https://www.volocopter.com/en/diversity-equity-and_inclusion

Safety is and will remain a top priority at Volocopter. For over ten years, we have shared multiple behind-the-scenes of our #VoloCity aircraft tests in the air. Today, we’re using the opportunity to share a glimpse of our tests on the ground – from a fisheye perspective, inside our #VoloCity aircraft! Here, you can see our test pilot, Olivier RENARD, evaluating aircraft systems – detail-checking and putting newly installed systems to the test. In addition to flight tests, ground tests are an integral part of our type certification milestone with EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency and enable us to ensure compliance with #aviation standards and regulations for safe flight. To the entire team involved in this and other tests, keep up the good work!

We enjoy a good challenge at Volocopter, and performing HIRF Testing is one! Last month, we completed High-Level High-Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF) testing on our VoloCity aircraft following test requirements outlined in EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s SC-VTOL certification basis. This makes Volocopter one of the first #eVTOL players in the world to perform such testing. But why is this test important? Aircraft-level HIRF testing ensures the protection of electric and electronic equipment of the #VoloCity from radiated fields generated from emitters such as television broadcast transmitters, commercial radio antennas, radar systems, and more – knowing these fields may cause aircraft systems to operate erroneously. As such, HIRF testing on the VoloCity is crucial for our certification milestone with EASA and for ensuring safe and swift flights in cities worldwide. Congratulations to the extraordinary team for their dedication and success!

How do you simultaneously develop safe aircraft and corresponding guidelines for a completely new technology like #eVTOL? The answer: through a shared vision, continuous knowledge exchange, and critical thinking. Without transparent and open communication between regulatory bodies such as EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency and industry pioneers like Volocopter, this would be impossible. For example, last year EASA defined noise standards for VTOLs, using technological input and data gathered through our prototype test flights. These guidelines outlined not only the acceptable noise levels that VTOL should have, but also how to standardize the measurement so it is adapted to VTOL #aircraft characteristics and aligned within the industry. This mutual exchange goes far beyond noise specifications and, thanks to pioneers like EASA and Volocopter, it ultimately benefits an entire industry!

Technological innovation of #eVTOL is vital – but so is the regulatory framework that enables innovation to flourish. Without robust rulemaking, our vision to fly safe, quiet, and sustainable aircraft becomes just a dream. The European Commission and EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency have been crucial in the growth of the #InnovativeAirMobility industry and #UrbanAirMobility as its subset in the urban context. The recent adoption of a regulatory package introducing the rules for launching crewed #VTOL commercial operations is a perfect example of their efforts. How did this regulatory package come to be, what are the challenges and solutions, and what does this mean for the industry? Learn this and more from our blog https://lnkd.in/eAmHnWMW.

When we describe our aircraft, the word "safety" immediately comes to mind. However, the phrase "10-9" may not ring a bell for many! It is the safety standard level in aviation at which we will certify our #VoloCity aircraft. It means that the VoloCity can only have one critical failure in a billion flight hours – a prerequisite by EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency to ensure our aircraft is one of the safest modes of transport to currently exist. How safe? Once certified, our VoloCity will be as safe as a commercial airliner. Last week, we attended the ‘CAAC-EASA Aviation Safety Conference’ in Xiamen, China. The discussions revolved around the collaboration between CAAC - Civil Aviation Administration of China and EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency in all manners of aviation. We were left in awe of how fast and far things progressed, particularly on the shared goal of enabling safe and sustainable #InnovativeAirMobility. As Volocopter, we are eager to continue supporting such efforts and look forward to future opportunities to engage with aviation professionals from all over the world!

“How would you describe the #VoloCity aircraft in one sentence?” Safe, quiet, sustainable, and a game-changer. These are some of the keywords our team members weigh in their statements. In light of #WorldEnvironmentDay, we reflect on these statements as we see a stunning future provided by our #eVTOL technology in decarbonizing aviation and uplifting quality of life. Listen in full to what the team has to say!

Knowledge-sharing and collaboration are vital for the growth of any industry – and ours is no exception. During the visit of the EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency and Federal Aviation Administration at our hangar, we conducted precision landing tests – the learnings from which will serve to improve guidelines & standards bringing #eVTOLs closer to the world. The purpose was to land the aircraft precisely within the dedicated parameters of the landing site – a critical maneuver affecting flight safety, pilot training, and smooth vertiport operations. To see how precise we were, swipe and catch our aircraft in action.
