Dear Twinner Stakeholder, we want to update you on Twinner’s sunset. But first we would like to start by thanking you for your trust in us. This is not a hollow platitude for us. Young moonshot companies like Twinner need allies in their mission. You have been one of those allies. A believer. A trustee. You trusted in a group of 150 people who invested their professional lives into this mission since 2017. And a group of incredibly dedicated investors who have invested $100 Million into this daring mission. This mission was blessed with support from you and by many successes and yet it stands at a turning point. In 2023 our technology was ripe enough to make our mission tangible. A fully digitized and fully standardized used car dealership “out of the box”. In the last 6 month we reached out to over 200 strategic partners across the globe to adopt this at large scale. Without success. The last 2 month everybody has been working frantically to find a smaller solution so that the mission can live on. Without success. While hard to accept Twinner needs to abort its mission and sunset its activities. Existing customers have been offered a migration path. Existing vendor contracts will be sunsetted. Employees will be released in accordance with all legal safeguards. If you are looking for great talents, send me a direct message (e.g. Software, Hardware, AI, Administration). We want to end our last message with two reflections. True scientific or technological progress has never been born in a safe place. New theories are always disputed by the consensus. New technologies always seem impossible. New endevours are sometimes misguided and sometimes mistimed. We can not help but believe that Twinner’s mission will find its time. Somwhere. Somewhen. Which is the second point. We can not help but see Twinner for more than a failed moonshot. We want to believe that the last 7 years have furthered the technological frontier. We believe that someday, sometime, somewhere, someone will build on the hard earned pioneering work by all Twinner stakeholders. We sincerely thank you for the co-investment you made into this!
