🌍 As Toni Garrn says... It's time to break free from outdated norms that limit girls to marriage and motherhood. Let's embrace their diverse aspirations, challenge patriarchal ideals, and recognize the importance of girls' and women's education. 👏 Together with our project partners, we're dedicated to this mission. Exciting news: our founder Toni will soon join the team on-site. Stay tuned! 😉 We're also excited to announce our newly designed homepage, where we highlight our commitment to empowering girls and women through education, skill development, and health initiatives. Given a chance, girls can change the world.
Info
Many girls in Sub-Saharan-Africa do not have the same access to education as girls in most parts of the global north. Mainly because of mismanaged governments, still existing unfair, postcolonial contracts that lead a large part of their population into poverty. In addition, patriarchal structures all over the world result in an unequal access to education whereby women often are chosen to stay at home to take care of household and the family. Inadequate infrastructure furthermore lead to long distances to school which is dangerous especially for girls. That's how gender disparity already starts at a young age and will continue throughout their lives. After multiple trips to Africa and Haiti with different NGOs and many learnings about the situation of girls globally, Toni felt the need to work alongside specific projects more directly and enable funds to help in a more flexible way, and therefore decided to launch her own entity. The Toni Garrn Foundation was founded in 2016 to support girls' education initiatives in Sub-Saharan-Africa. The goal is to empower the individual their families and local communities.

Everyday moments in Ghana showcase the incredible strength and resilience of women. 💪 In this photo, a mother prepares food while carrying her child, a scene common in many sub-Sahara African households. Women play a pivotal role in both domestic responsibilities and agricultural labor, often balancing multiple roles to support their families. Women contribute significantly to the country's economy, especially in rural areas where they are primarily responsible for food production and processing. Despite their critical role, women often face challenges such as limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. By supporting initiatives that empower women through education, vocational training, and healthcare, we can help create more equitable opportunities for them and their families. Empowering women not only benefits individual households but also strengthens entire communities and drives sustainable development. Let's continue to support and uplift these women, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future for Ghana and beyond. 📸 Florian Schüppel #girlimpact #tonigarrnfoundation #globaljustice

✊ Yesterday was "International Menstrual Hygiene Day", and we are still full of euphoria from the last two days of action in Ghana 🇬🇭 Because we achieved so much on the day itself, our review is coming a day 'too late'... but what counts is what was actually accomplished - and it was a lot! Together with our project partner "Alama Mater Education Ghana", we were able to: 📣 Organize a demonstration with around 800 people within the community of Wioso, putting menstruation at the top of the agenda 💡 Educate over 1.000 girls and boys about menstruation 🤝 Bring together regional politicians and cultural leaders to discuss menstrual hygiene and access to menstrual products 💛 Receive support from the current member of parliament of the district, who donated 1.000 menstrual products to the campaign 💕 What an incredibly successful, exhausting, and impactful day. 💕 Thank you to everyone for their participation and especially to our sponsor SNOCKS for their donation that made this event possible. We have laid a crucial foundation stone to bring this topic to the forefront of community and political discussions. We will continue to fight until every girl has access to menstrual products. Let's create a #periodfriendlyworld together 💛 #girlimpact #globaljustice #tonigarrnfoundation

Climate change is significantly impacting sub-Saharan African countries, including our project partners in Ghana and Uganda, with whom we frequently engage on this issue. Both partners maintain farmland for food security but struggle with unpredictable weather conditions that complicate farming. Furthermore, studies show that women and girls are disproportionately affected due to their roles in agriculture and household responsibilities within the continent. Our cooperations aim to empower them with the skills and resources needed to adapt and thrive in a changing climate. For further information and data, check out the recent "Climate Risk Country Profiles" published by the World Bank. #girlimpact #globaljustice #climatechange #tonigarrnfoundation

According to the latest report by the UN Population Fund (United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)), there's been a significant step backward for Women's Rights worldwide. This setback underscores the urgent need to intensify efforts and advocate even more strongly for gender equality. Despite progress in some areas, the persistent challenges faced by women and girls globally highlight the ongoing importance of prioritizing initiatives that promote gender parity, empower women, and ensure their fundamental rights. Let's stand together and continue the fight for a more equitable world.✊ #girlimpact #tonigarrnfoundation #unfpa #womensright
