„Künstliche Intelligenz wird erlebbar“, so hieß das Motto des 3. KI-Festivals in Heilbronn. Schlegel und Partner machte sich vor Ort ein umfassendes Bild zum derzeitigen Stand der Entwicklung und Trends der Zukunft. Über 50 Aussteller aus u.a. Medizin, Medien, Transport, Bau und Lehre waren 2024 dabei. Darunter Audi, Porsche, SAP und dm, die neben renommierten Universitäten ihre Forschungsprojekte zu autonomen Fahren, Früherkennung von Krankheiten und Fehleranalysen bei Motoren vorstellten und erlebbar machten. An Versuchsstationen konnten Besucher:innen Künstliche Intelligenz ausprobieren und gegen sie wetteifern. Das KI Festival möchte Berührungsängsten entgegenwirken und Brücken bauen für Industrie, Wirtschaft, Mensch und Arbeitswelt. In Form von kurzen Impulsvorträgen gaben Wissenschaftler:innen und Fachexpert:innen erste Einblicke, die dann an den Ständen weiter vertieft wurden. Schlegel und Partner baut bereits intern wie für seine Kunden auf die Vorteile und Stärken der Künstlichen Intelligenz zur Effizienzsteigerung, u.a. auch im Prozess- und Projektmanagement. Ursula Hosselmann von Schlegel und Partner - Your Market Insighters® besuchte die ACHEMA 2024 und verschaffte sich einen Überblick über die aktuellen Entwicklungen in den wichtigsten Kundensegmenten – allen voran Pumpen, Kompressoren und Dichtungstechnik. Auch wenn die konjunkturelle Entwicklung derzeit schwach ist, bereitet sich die Branche auf den Wiederaufschwung und die dafür notwendigen Investitionen vor. In Zukunft #volatil: #Strompreise in Europa Die vergangenen beiden Jahre waren durch sehr starke Schwankungen der Strompreise in Europa gekennzeichnet. Verantwortlich dafür war nicht nur der durch den Ukraine-Krieg ausgelöste #Erdgas-Schock, sondern auch der zunehmende Anteil regenerativer Energien. EuroPUR Conference in Istanbul, Türkiye 2024 Thorsten Leupold and Helmut Weldle from Schlegel und Partner - Your Market Insighters® attended the annual EuroPUR Conference in Istanbul, Türkiye 2024, the main gathering of the European Polyurethane industry. Essential aspects that drive the industry include sustainability and recycling/recyclability, a range of new and upcoming EU regulations like the EPR (extended producer responsibility), ESPR (eco-design for sustainable products regulation), ELVD (end of life vehicle directive), and efforts to increase transparency and cooperation on the core topics along the value chain. Thorsten gave a talk on battery safety requirements and innovations for BEV (battery electric vehicles), showing the advantages but also challenges of polyurethane as safety agent to prevent thermal propagation. While the overall frequency of incidents is vastly exaggerated, the severity of accidents clearly requires solutions. Polyurethane shows great potential for making batteries safe, it does not make the issue of recyclability any easier. Helmut’s talk shed some light on closing the loop for polyurethane foam consumer products, showing the requirements and challenges along the waste stream and infrastructure to enhance e.g. the volume and quality of the input for mattress recycling. While upcoming regulations create a strong motivation, making it work will require more transparency and collaboration of involved stakeholders, advancing strong partnerships through the stages and increasing consumer awareness and education on making their mattresses a sustainable product. #EuroPUR #Polyurethane #Sustainability #Recycling #CircularEconomy #Regulations #AutomotiveBatteries #Mattresses

Last week, Maria Teresa Ambrosi from Schlegel und Partner - Your Market Insighters® held a speech about the future of textile chemical recycling at the Go Circular in Cologne, moderated by Thorsten Leupold. The last couple of years have unleashed the potential of this technology to solve the textile waste problem. At the same time, issues such as missing funding and a solid collection and sorting structure may hinder success, as recent events in the industry have shown. On the other side, steps forward have been made by the European Union to favor textile recycling projects within the framework of the Waste Directive and the decision to establish EPR schemes for textile producers.
