📡 Did you know #AI might soon be operating your phoneline? 🛰️🤖 #6G networks will contain AI components for tasks such as optimization. The integrity of communication is key for values such as trust and privacy. Analyzing threats and mitigating risk in this context is essential. It was therefore beyond exciting to present at this year's Annual Summer Conference of Korea's IEIE (Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers)! I talked about the challenges and the tools we have available for implementing #ResponsibleAI throughout the system lifecycle. These are, in particular, IEEE 7000 for designing systems and IEEE CertifAIEd for the assessment. Both have been developed over years and are the most advanced engineering tools available at this point. Thank you once more for the honor of presenting.

🚀 Highlights from the #AI with Purpose Summit 2024 Attending the AI with Purpose Summit 2024 in Munich was an enriching experience. Thank you, Siemens, for a great event! I closely followed the Trust & Regulation Track, expertly led by Sonja Zillner. Here are some standout talks: 🔹 AI Act Overview and Compliance Journey:   Sonja Zillner provided an in-depth overview of the EU AI Act, followed by Dr. Till Klein, who detailed the steps companies need to take to ensure compliance with the AI Act for high-risk systems. 🔹 Harmonized Standards for the EU AI Act:   Juergen Heiles shared invaluable insights into the development (and challenges) of harmonized standards, crucial for the successful implementation of the EU AI Act. Following standards is a key tool for companies to show compliance with the AI Act. 🔹 AI Safety: Marc Zeller and his colleagues presented on the Safety in AI based on an autonomous train project. They created a map of safety challenges in AI (such as issues with the labeling of ground truth) and approaches to tackle them, basically trying to minimize their impact. Interesting discussions of how this can lead to solid safety arguments. 🔹 Corporate Governance Insights: A dynamic panel featuring Marko Wolf of Bosch, Nivien Shafik of MunichRE, and Michael May of Siemens discussed the challenges and opportunities in AI governance, offering a comprehensive look at best practices in corporate governance for AI. Some Key takeaways: - The Race for Standards: Marco Wolf highlighted the unprecedented speed at which AI is being rolled out and industrialized, contrasting it with the years or decades it took to develop standards in other engineering disciplines. - Governance Integration: Companies are working to integrate AI governance into their existing process frameworks, and various approaches are being tested. Many are focusing on GenAI to craft initial rule sets and try to 'dock' AI governance onto existing structures and decision boards. - Ethical AI and Responsible Design: The importance of ethical AI was emphasized. I had the feeling thought that many companies are still seeking structured ways to address these crucial topics. Thanks again to all the speakers!
