Viva España! The Spanish team has won the UEFA European Football Championship – and PowerCo is cheering the winners. With our upcoming Gigafactory in Valencia, we are an integral part of the Spanish community. And of course we’ve kept our fingers crossed: around 98 percent of all PowerCo colleagues had bet on Spain before the final! 🇪🇸 Congrats to Spain, to the Spanish soccer team and to our colleagues at PowerCo Spain! 🙌 The atmosphere over the past four weeks has been incredible, both in Germany and throughout Europe. We've got another #PowerUpdate for you. PowerCo and QuantumScape have entered into an agreement to industrialize solid-state batteries as the next-generation technology. 🔋  QuantumScape is a California-based startup which was founded in 2010 as a spin-off from Stanford University to develop solid-state batteries. Their technology platform is based on the company’s proprietary solid-state ceramic separator, which enables the use of a pure lithium-metal anode. This is a transformative innovation that is designed for exceptional energy and power density, fast charging and a robust safety profile.  With the new agreement, a large, dedicated team composed of experts from both companies, will execute the industrialization activities. Given successful technical progress, PowerCo can produce battery cells based on QuantumScape's solid-state technology with up to 40 gigawatt-hours (GWh) per year.  The agreement supersedes an earlier joint venture between the Volkswagen Group and QuantumScape to co-manufacture batteries. Both companies are convinced that the new agreement represents the fastest way to achieve gigawatt-hour-scale production of solid-state technology. We are proud to announce that #PowerCo has been honored with the SAP Quality Award 2024 in the “SAP S/4HANA Cloud Solution” category. 🏆 This recognition highlights our commitment to excellence in implementation, efficiency and cooperation.   The Quality Awards are presented annually to the most successful implementations of SAP applications and their management.   Together with SAP, the PowerCo ERP Program team implemented the SAP S/4HANA Cloud for our headquarters and for the battery cell production gigafactories in Valencia and Salzgitter in April 2023. Four more releases have already taken place since then to implement new functionalities and further enhance the system. The jury particularly appreciated the fact that the system was implemented both in good quality and in the shortest possible time. Based on this cloud-based software, PowerCo is establishing state-of-the-art ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software for all core processes. Standardization with SAP S/4 HANA is the basis for innovations and a faster rollout of new solutions and enables data consistency along the entire value chain.   Implementation is also planned in Canada by the end of this year.  #Batterytechnology #Innovation #SAP

Exciting news from Valencia! 🤝 We’ve signed a Collaboration Agreement with the Generalitat Valenciana to launch the new #BatteryCampus.  This public-private partnership aims to create a vibrant talent ecosystem, energizing the Valencian region and benefiting the entire sector.  We aspire for it to be more than just a training center—the Battery Campus will enhance employability in the region and establish Valencia as a leading hub for electromobility. With this we will create a new center of excellence, research, education, and job opportunities. Equipping our employees and future talents from the Valencian region with cutting-edge knowledge and skills will prepare them for promising careers in the rapidly growing battery production industry. 🌍 The Battery Campus is set to open in the 2026/2027 academic year, and will ensure a robust talent pool to drive growth and sustainability in the Valencian region.  PowerCo is a strong supporter of young talent, investing in battery science and education in Europe. Besides the Battery Campus, we just announced a collaboration with the International Graduate School BACCARA in Münster. None of this would be possible without our incredible team of #PowerColleagues.   Since Day 1, we‘ve been on a growth streak: 3 locations, over 1,500 employees, 51 nationalities, and 31% internationals. Our dynamic team of experts is constantly planning, researching, developing, building, and testing battery technology to ramp up our factories. Over 70% of the PowerCo employees from the operations team have more than 5 years of professional experience in the battery industry. Two years of #PowerCo!⚡️ Let’s look back at the breaking ground of #SalzGiga, marking the start of our journey into the global battery business. This #throwback demonstrates the beginning of a transformation of the automotive industry and our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and growth in the #eMobility sector. Salzgitter served as the blueprint for our cell factories, setting new standards. Since breaking ground, the transformation has been in full swing, from presenting our first unified cell to forming strategic partnerships with various technology and raw material suppliers to ensure a secure and sustainable supply chain for battery production. Our #PowerColleagues are further researching, developing, building, and testing battery technology. Meet another #PowerMover: Bhargav! He joined #PowerCo in May last year, moving from Sweden to Germany. As part of the “Planning – Industrial Engineering (ON-I)” team, he works on designing gigafactories, streamlining production, driving digitalization, tracking data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and, of course, having fun with his colleagues. For Bhargav, PowerCo’s corporate culture blends the experience of the Volkswagen Group with a start-up atmosphere and global battery expertise.
