Have you heard about 'Project Boomerang'?♻ It's our partner apetito UK's key sustainability initiative, prioritising Ready Meal deliveries to the homes of the elderly in a pioneering closed-loop recycling system for plastic meal trays at an industrial scale: The project was highlighted by the judges, as apetito was recently awarded with the King´s Award for Enterprise 2024 for sustainable Development. Developed in collaboration with Faerch, this system represents a fantastic achievement in closed-loop production and recycling within the food tray sector, earning recognition as a sector-leading innovation. Like Faerch, apetito is ambitous in their sustainability work, committed to be net zero by 2040 and has set challenging short-term targets for carbon reduction.🤝 “We in Faerch are very proud to work with companies like apetito and extend our warm congratulations to the entire team on the great achievement and milestone it is to win one of the most prestigious awards for UK businesses” , says our CEO Lars Gade Hansen. We're thrilled to announce that apetito I Wiltshire Farm Foods has been awarded the prestigious King’s Awards for Enterprise in Sustainable Development for 2024! At the heart of this recognition lies ‘Project Boomerang,’. This ground-breaking initiative is the world’s first closed-loop recycling system for plastic meal trays on an industrial scale. To date we’ve recycled over 25 million trays! This supports our industry leading commitment to achieve net zero by 2040. Our targets for decarbonisation have been validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative; and unlike many others, by publishing our short-term targets we demonstrate commitment to taking action now. We have the most ambitious Net-Zero target in the rigid food packaging industry🎯🤝 We are proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated our emission reduction targets. This includes our near-term (2030) target aligned with the 1.5°C pathway, and long-term (2040) science-based Net-Zero target. Many of our customers have committed to, or set, science-based targets. The validation of Faerch’s science-based targets will enable us to partner even closer with customers and help them realise their own supply chain #decarbonisation ambitions while also delivering on the transition to truly circular food packaging.♻🌀 🔗👇Read the full press release to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dsMV3QdS 🔗👇Discover more about our sustainability ambitions in our latest sustainability report: https://lnkd.in/dhicsk9r #ScienceBasedTargets #NetZero #climateaction #circularsolutions #partnerships #foodpackaging

Can safety and circularity go hand in hand? At Faerch Group it is reality already today.🤝💚 For this year's World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the focus is on how climate change impacts workers' safety and health. As climate change intensifies, the challenges facing workers globally grow. From extreme weather events to air pollution and agrochemicals, the risks are real. At Faerch, we recognize the importance of safety and health at work, especially in times of high activity, increasingly complex value chains and changing conditions worldwide. "Safety performance goes hand in hand with being reflective. At Faerch, we have taken time out on World Safety Day to lift awareness and demonstrate our commitment to bringing all employees safely back home from work, every day - at all times," says Ronnie Brandorff Jensen, Senior Operations Director Integration at Faerch. The working conditions and health and safety of our own workers, as well as the personal safety of our end-users, are especially material aspects to Faerch and our work. As we work towards a circular society, we also work for a safe society.♻💚👨👩👧👦 You can read more about the Work Safety Day here: https://lnkd.in/gYbu4Gr #WorldSafetyDay #Faerch #ClimateChange #SafetyAtWork #CircularEconomy

A Heartfelt Thank You to everyone who attended our fantastic Cirrec plant inauguration – and here's to the exciting road ahead! 🛣🚀 With over 100 industry experts gathered in Duiven, and 600 who joined online, we heard from Paul Polman, former CEO of Unilever and net-positive guest speaker at the event, who is championing for climate action and human-oriented business.   "I wanted to be here because it’s a project at scale that shows courage, that shows vision. We can talk about theory, but need to celebrate the people who are acting. To be honest, actually, not as much has happened in the area as it should, we know that. To see people taking this commitment deserves all our applause and support (…) You are leading by doing and you are a pioneer in many areas.”, said Paul.   "Our goal is to make our industry ready for the future, facing challenges head-on," said our CEO, Lars Gade Hansen, at the opening of our new Cirrec recycling plant last week. A statement that underscores Faerch's commitment to transitioning its products from linear to circular. That requires collaboration. "The opening not only gave us a great opportunity to celebrate the plant and its ground-breaking progress, but also to gather the stakeholders needed in order to make changes towards circularity within the rigid food packaging industry".   After five years of hard work and investment, Faerch now has a solution that really works and that is ready for scale. Jan Nielsen, from A.P. Moller Holding, talked about why Faerch is special:   “With Faerch’s truly circular food packaging, we have a solution where food packaging can be used again and again and again. It has taken sweat and tears to get here, but we have the solution,” Jan Nielsen said.   “If we step back for a second and think broader on the green transition, it's in very few cases where we have a solution to an obvious problem. Faerch is different; We have a solution that's ready to go big, already with real recycling in places like the Benelux, Germany, and Sweden.”   Paul Freeston, CEO of apetito UK, which uses Faerch trays for their meals, talked about how people are ready to recycle more:   "People want to contribute for the better. With Faerch, we've recycled 24 million trays – that's 24 million consumer actions for circularity. Making it easy for people to join in is really important."   With these key learnings in mind, we'd again like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this important milestone: To our customers, partners, suppliers, employees, and each and every person who made this event possible. A special thank you to Martine Hauwert for guiding us through the event from the stage. Your support and engagement are vital as we together continue this journey towards a circular future.♻🌀 Watch the recorded livestream from the Grand Opening here: 📺 https://lnkd.in/dxTd_H95 #CircularEconomy #CirrecPlant #ThankYou

Did you know that the average lifespan of a food tray can be as short as 8 days – from the day it is produced to the day it is disposed of by the consumer?   This represents significant waste of valuable resources. As a leading supplier of rigid food packaging, Faerch is committed to changing this.   Elisabet V. Sandnes , the newly appointed Chief Sustainability Officer at Faerch explains: “Though our business is quite complex, our goal is simple: Shift from using rigid food packaging once, to an infinite number of cycles where packaging from household waste is recycled back into new food packaging. We want the packaging to maintain the same quality, ensuring like-for-like usage without compromising on food safety. This is circular recycling.” At our integrated recycling facility in the Netherlands this is reality already today. “And with the upcoming Grand Opening of our fully scaled recycling plant in mid-April we will showcase our full-scale facility and demonstrate how we are reshaping the industry by ensuring that a rigid PET food packaging can become a new food packaging with circular content again and again, so stay tuned” Elisabet concludes. #wasteavoidance #rigidfoodpackaging #circularrecycling #faerch #circularcontent #circulareconomy

38,000,000 trays in 3 years through the production lines - with operational uptime of an impressive 99.96%! That is what Norfersk has achieved by switching to Faerch's patented Ultra Low Stacking trays. The trays feature a noteworthy gap of only 1.5 mm between each tray, which is a significant contrast to the 3-6 mm gap found in traditional trays. Highlighting up to 67% space savings during transport, transit packaging, storage, and handling, these trays translate to significantly reduced CO2 emissions. The trays are made from market leading amounts of post-consumer recycled content and 100% recyclable into new food grade trays - proving that innovation and sustainability are intertwined ideals. Something the Ultra Low Stacking trays both deliver on.
