Since 1998, we’ve been committed to excellent standards for driving and parking through our investment in ADAS. And now with Autonomous Driving Controller (ADC) in development, our commitment deepens into truly next-generation safety and convenience. The ADC is a powerful integration of 11 cameras, 12 USSs, 2 LiDARs, and 5 RADARs that incorporates driving, parking, and video recognition features. Set to be completed in the 2nd half of this year, the ADC will allow for a shorter development cycle, as well as more tailored solutions for customers. One striking feature of this next-generation ADAS is the Rear Safety Assistance System (RSAS), which helps detect and prevent dangers from drivers approaching from the rear-end of the vehicle. With level 4 autonomous vehicle testing already completed in South Korea earlier this year, development of ADAS is set to advance in protecting drivers more efficiently. Fast, smart, and incomparably efficient, Acoustic AI is the latest technology we’re applying to ensure utmost quality throughout the manufacturing process. The pilot implementation of this state-of-the-art system was just completed at the Changwon plant where approximately 1.3 million units of Electric Power Steering (EPS) are produced annually. Acoustic AI boosts overall quality by analyzing sounds generated by parts for deviations or anomalies that would indicate defective products. This sophisticated system connects power to the EPS and analyzes the sounds generated by the rotating motor through its waveform. The truly astonishing aspect of this system is that it’s able to analyze defects at a rate of 1 unit per second, which bolsters quality while processing large volumes in a short amount of time. In particular, this system is considered a significant contribution of quality to the production of EPS, as the EPS greatly affects steering performance and safety. With additional validation and expanded applications on the way, this latest generation of AI opens the horizons for even more efficiency in the inspection process through automation and impeccable quality control. [M.People Vol.4] Meet Nishant Chowdhri, Systems & Controls Engineer in Mobis Technical Center of Europe (MTCE) in Frankfurt. He works in the Brakes Team, developing safety control systems to ensure we are all safe on the roads. He has been working in Mobis for nearly a year now, but he has solid experience in Automotive Aftermarket in other Original Equipment Manufacturer. In his current role he is focused in researching and developing new model-based design concepts and control logics for the next generation of lateral vehicle controls, mainly focused on safety controls such as VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) or ESC (Electronic Stability Control). His role also has a fun part that is involved in testing the developed technology to gain insights and always looking for improvements. What are the main challenges of your team? One of the main challenges is the close cooperation we have with Mobis Technical Center in Korea due to the language barriers and differences in working style. At the same time, this is also making the job extremely exciting because there is an amazing amount of knowledge sharing when both teams work together with the goal of making vehicles safer. How do you envision “Future Mobility”? Certain goals that we strive to achieve now still holds true for the future mobility: sustainable and environment friendly mobility solutions, improved efficiency, and increased safety. Future mobility must be green and eco-friendly, causing no pollution and harm to the environment. Better computational power should lead the way for improved vehicle controls concept that helps vehicles to reach automated driving. This should in principle improve safety and reduce vehicle accidents significantly. Concepts such as V2V (vehicle 2 vehicle) communication will allow efficient travel in platoons and give increased safety. Lastly, I do believe that future mobility will not be restricted to roads only but will fly in the sky with the concept of flying cars. Already people have made prototypes, so I do believe that future mobility brings exciting prospects and innovations. What are your personal goals while working at Mobis? Mobis is helping me to understand the processes and steps an automotive supplier has to follow to develop and bring the final product to the road while understanding the different challenges (technical and non-technical both) that are faced in bringing control technology from design and implementation phase, to testing and calibration phase and finally deployment on the vehicle. At the same time, working in a Korean company is allowing me to improve my cooperative and inter-cultural skills. This is a great skill also for my personal and professional life. There’s more than meets the eye in the M.VICS, a revolutionary cockpit carefully designed and developed in-house. The M.VICS series, first introduced in 2021, has experienced 5 iterations in our search for better for comprehensive convenience, safety, and efficiency. In our latest M.VICS, what appears to be a single display is actually a compilation of 5 display panels, each used for a differentiated purpose. The 27-inch main screen acts as the dashboard, displaying navigation info and media. The 12.3-inch screen is catered to the passenger, and a 7-inch screen displays vehicle status info. Button controls and a projection display with touch and haptic feedback add a sophisticated finish to the entire cockpit. CSR: Mobis supporting local Robotics Competition in Frankfurt Am Main We are committed to the development of the future talents in the fields of Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Technology. Mobis has sponsored the 2024 Robotics Competition organized Lycée Français Victor Hugo in Frankfurt. The aim of this event is to design and manufacture a robot that can complete a given course in the shortest possible time and completely autonomously. Students in grades 6 to 9 from all over Europe were invited to participate. This competition started in 2017 and was able to resume after three years break due to the covid pandemic. The event took place a couple weeks ago and some Mobis employees joined to support the 250 students participating in developing a robot. We also brought a #Hyundai Kona EV to showcase the future of sustainable mobility to the students. The students were enthusiastic and curious, asking insightful questions about Mobis while getting hands-on experience with our cutting-edge technology. The highlight of the day was the donation ceremony, where Thomas Guthier, department head of MTCE Camera, handed over a sum of 2.000€ in the name of Mobis to the school.
