It was about time. Now we are finally here: MILES has arrived in Frankfurt am Main! Frankfurt is the 5th biggest city in Germany, so we have put together five facts about the city: 🏙️ 18 of the 19 tallest skyscrapers in Germany are in Frankfurt (nickname: Mainhattan). 🍎 Apple wine, or "Ebbelwei", is a traditional drink in Frankfurt. ✍️ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born in Frankfurt 🏦 "Bankfurt" is the only place in the world where two central banks are located at the same time: European Central Bank & the German Federal Bank 🛫 Almost 60 million passengers were handled at Fraport in 2023 (BER: ~23 million). Have a safe trip!

Recognizing the need for change is crucial when initial plans prove challenging. 🔋 Stad Antwerpen is planning to slow down its goal for electrifying shared cars. Although this may sound like a step backwards. It is not. By doing this, Antwerp is even supporting the expansion of shared mobility and preventing the operators from downsizing their fleets. Koen Kennis (Deputy Mayor for Mobility) has recognized that shared mobility remains crucial for reducing private car usage. 🚀 💡 Background: According to an agreement with the city, carsharing providers would only be allowed to add zero-emission vehicles from 2025. The entire fleet would have to be emission-free by January 1, 2028. In general, this sounds like a good plan. We agree. However, operating large e-fleets in the recent two years have proved us that it is unrealistic as the costs of buying, maintaining and repairing e-vehicles are much higher compared to combustion engine vehicles. This makes it tough to operate large e-vehicle fleets economically for now.

These are the approaches we need! 🚀 Marburg wants to reward people who give up their car for a year with 1,250 euros. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. The offers include, for example, the use of carsharing worth up to 800 euros or the use of public transport worth up to 600 euros. However, Marburg has yet to pass a resolution in the city council (June 15th 2024). If approved, a pilot phase for the first 50 registered cars will start immediately afterwards.
