As a Mercedes-Benz subsidiary, we enjoy great trust and take on even more responsibility: We always think ahead, question the status quo, develop ideas, and break new ground. Standing still is not an option for us, we always keep moving! This agile mindset and the courage to change are part of our DNA: Having started in 1998 as a project spin-off with seven colleagues, we have developed into a trustworthy partner and strategic ally for Mercedes-Benz under the former company name Daimler TSS. We are immensely proud of our heritage – and at the same time look ambitiously into the future as the largest software development subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Today, more than 1,400 employees in Ulm, Stuttgart, Berlin, and Karlsruhe as well as in our project hub in Kuala Lumpur work together at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation to realize our visions for Mercedes-Benz. What unites us is our enthusiasm for innovations and the shared passion for the latest technology combined with the belief that individual freedom and empowerment are essential for progress. In addition, as part of Home of Tech, a global tech network at Mercedes-Benz, we work together with other units on the megatrends of our time: digitalization, connectivity, electrification and and sustainability.

Latest Insights in Time Series Anomaly Detection🔍 We're excited to showcase the innovative research led by our colleague, Saquib Sarfraz, a Lead Expert in #deeplearning. Their work is set to be featured at the prestigious International Conference of #machinelearning (ICML) in Vienna this coming July. Their position paper, "Quo Vadis: Time Series Anomaly Detection?" takes a fresh look at anomaly detection, revealing some interesting insights. Time series data is a sequence of observations recorded over intervals of time. Anomaly detection is the process of finding unusual patterns that deviate from expected behavior in this data. For our operations at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation, time series data, like vehicle sensor readings, are vital, especially for timely anomaly detection in vehicle development and maintenance. This significant research not only questions the need for intricate models but also sets a new precedent for practical, effective anomaly detection in our industry, particularly in the critical analysis of vehicle sensor data. The team's insights encourage a shift towards transparent, straightforward solutions that promise to benefit both Mercedes-Benz and the wider tech community. As we look forward to the discussions at #ICML, we're excited about this research's potential to inspire innovation that values utility and simplicity. We invite those interested to explore the paper and code for a deeper understanding of their findings. A glimpse into #embeddedengineering 💡 Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Technische Hochschule Ulm, turning their curiosity into valuable insights. They experienced firsthand how Embedded Engineering (EE) is shaping the #futureofmobility at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation. Markus Rettstatt, lead of our business unit "Software Defined Car", warmly welcomed the students, setting the stage for a day of exploration and learning. The spotlight shined on EE, a crucial field in the automotive industry that encompasses the development of integrated systems, including control units and their software. These control units are the "brains" of our vehicles, undertaking complex calculations and control tasks - making the driving experience even smoother and more tailored to the driver. With our expertise at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation, we contribute every day to making the mobility of tomorrow safer, more efficient, and more comfortable. We showcased some of our project highlights, such as MB.OS, demonstrating our cutting-edge technological progress. Additionally, the students toured our labs, gaining insight into the core of our development efforts. The visit concluded with an overview of the various training and career opportunities available in the IT sector as a #techinnovator. We were delighted to engage with so many tech-savvy students. Thank you, Christoph Rothermel, for making this event possible, and thank you to all the students who joined us. Your curiosity fuels our collective passion for innovation! 🚀 #techinnovators #MBOS

What does a #releasetrainengineer do? 🤔 In the world of agile software development, particularly in the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), this role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the release train. Although the release train may sound like some kind of locomotive, our colleague Dr. Markus Hipp explains that it has nothing to do with a real train. “An Agile Release Train (ART) is a unit that brings together multiple #agileteams to achieve a common goal, typically the delivery of a specific product version or feature.” Markus is the first and only person to hold this role at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation. He is responsible for coordinating the teams, removing impediments, monitoring progress, facilitating communication, and ensuring that all teams collaborate effectively to achieve the planned objectives. Markus’ ART is part of MB.OS, an operating system developed by Mercedes-Benz for its vehicles. It stands for Mercedes-Benz Operating System. This system is designed to integrate various vehicle functions, including infotainment, navigation, and driver assistance systems, into a single, cohesive platform. In his role, Markus is responsible for coordinating and supporting development teams in planning, delivering and deploying software releases to the various control units in the vehicle. Additionally, he works closely with other crucial SAFe roles, such as the product management, or the system architect to ensure that releases are delivered on time. But what are the biggest challenges as a Release Train Engineer? “I would say the biggest challenges lie in managing the size of the projects and ensuring effective collaborations, as well as communication with stakeholders.” If you have any questions regarding this topic, feel free to reach out in the comment section below. 👇 #techinnovators #SAFe #whatdoesa #MBOS

Two creative minds, one new collaboration model - a match made in UX heaven! 🤝 Meet Julia Denner and Andreas Christeit, two experienced UI/UX Designers at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation, who have revolutionized their way of working by introducing the #UX tandem. As UX Designers often work on their own within their project teams, they can struggle with getting feedback and exchanging with other UX designers. To address this, three UX pairs have been testing a new collaboration model for nearly one year now - and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! The UX tandem is defined by mutual exchange and coordination, with both individuals working closely together and regularly synchronizing to ensure they have the same level of knowledge. According to Julia and Andreas, the advantages of the UX tandem outweigh from the beginning: "Working in tandem, we motivate and strengthen each other, providing valuable feedback that leads to faster solution approaches and more substantiated concepts from the outset. By collaborating closely, we make the user interface more tangible and deliver higher quality results. And the best part? It's even more fun!" Collaboration is key to success, but there is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Our UX pairs have to take into account various factors such as their project capacity, workload, working hours, project maturity, and timelines. This has led to the development of various forms of collaboration. For instance, Julia and Andreas work closely together on the same projects and synchronize daily, while other UX pairs also benefit from sharing knowledge and ideas, even as they work on different projects. After successfully completing the test phase, the three UX pairs have decided to continue utilizing their unique collaboration model. It's time to take full advantage of the positive impact of UX pairing and revolutionize our work at Mercedes-Benz Tech Innovation. Many thanks to Julia and Andreas for sharing their experience with us. #techinnovators #uxdesign #userexperience
