mm.CaseStudy: Correction of Hallux Valgus using mm.CS resorbable compression screws – A year follow up in DVT The current case was performed by Guido Laps from OAG Campus in Cologne. The patient underwent surgical correction of a mild to moderate hallux valgus deformity using a mm.CS 3.5 bioabsorbable compression screw as well as DMMO correction of a tailor’s bunion and a Akin osteotomy and lateral release in a MIS approach. The patient was advised standard postoperative routines and an excellent result in the postoperative controls was achieved. Read more in the case report. We are thankful for the trust by Dr. Laps and very happy with the result. #forefootsurgery #mmX #innovation

Bioabsorbable Implant Technology: Offering innovation in implant technology to surgeons to eliminate risk and cost
Info
medical magnesium develops metallic bioabsorbable implants for orthopaedic and trauma surgical therapy, based on its mm.X implant technology. The mm.X implants are mechanically stable and will be physiologically absorbed by the body after the fracture has healed. Our goal is to provide users and patients customized and highly functional solutions made of magnesium. We aim to shape a next generation of implants to provide more therapy options with just a single surgery. As a start-up from RWTH Aachen University, we bring results from interdisciplinary research in engineering and medicine into the surgical theathres. After extensive testing, we developed the product technology mm.X and the first products were transferred into the clinic. We are committed to transparently publish all data with high clinical evidence.

Biomechanical research is one of the most important topics around innovative implant development. A great product idea evolves from the collaboration with customers from day one. We are proud to share the recent publication by the #UKM knee team around Adrian Deichsel and PD Dr. med. Christoph Kittl MD(Res): Comparison of Time-Zero Primary Stability Between a Biodegradable Magnesium Bone Staple and Metal Bone Staples for Knee Ligament Fixation: A Biomechanical Study in a Porcine Model Link: https://lnkd.in/e2DsF2Ru At day one, resorbable mm.X based staples show similar fixation strengths compared to conventional permanent titanium staples. In ligament fixation, a resorbable staple would be an ideal candidate to (re-)fixate rectangular (“flat, not round”) ligaments, like the medial collateral ligament (MCL) without interfering with bore channels for other techniques. The (re-)fixation of torn or reconstructed soft tissue structures, especially the MCL, with staple like implants could experience a renaissance in times of more peripheral ligament reconstruction in complex knee injuries. #mmX #bioabsorbableinnovation

A successful end to two intensive days! Last week we had the opportunity to welcome and train our colleagues from KLS Martin Group sales in Germany at our headquarters in Aachen. A lot of information about the absorption, the mm.X implants and the clinical results could be passed on to the colleagues to further strengthen our collaboration. #klsmartin #bioabsorbableinnovation #mmX #magnesium

We are back in Munich! On December 1st and 2nd we will participate in the 31st International Symposium for Foot Surgery - GFFC - Gesellschaft für Fuß- und Sprunggelenkchirurgie e.v.. Themed "Challenges of the Future", the symposium will provide in-depth insights, discussions and solutions for the ambulatory foot surgery. We are particularly looking forward to the industry exhibition, where we will have the opportunity to showcase our products and technology in the field of magnesium implants. We are looking forward to presenting our mm.CS and mm.PIP implants and having in-depth discussions with experts. Special emphasis will be placed on the treatment of hallux valgus and osteochondral fragments in the ankle. #mmX #bioabsorbableinnovation #GFFC

𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞: Patella fracture treated with 2.8 mm.CS resorbable headless compression screws The current case was performed by PD Dr. Clemens Koesters, a senior surgeon specialising in trauma surgery and orthopaedics at the Maria-Josef Hospital in Greven, Germany. The patient presented with a traumatic fracture of the medial proximal patella. Using an open surgical approach, the patella fragment was meticulously reattached using 2 mm.CS magnesium-based headless compression screws over a K-wire placement. The mm.CS screws not only facilitated the stable restoration of structural integrity, but also obviated the need for a subsequent surgical procedure to remove the implants. #mmX #mmCS #bioabsorbableinnovation

We are proud to announce an intensified cooperation between Medical Magnesium and the KLS Martin Group! The growth in all relevant surgical fields allows us to promote the distribution of our implants especially in (sports) trauma, foot and hand surgery. "We are very happy about the intensified collaboration with KLS martin, who has been a partner for us from day one. Joint forces in some departments, we imagine a great future for mm.X. Together with the team at KLS martin it will allow us treat even more patients in the future.", says Kilian Reuß founder of medical magnesium. At this years DKOU, we will be showcasing together. We welcome you at the KLS Martin booth (Hall 4.2. Booth 26) to tell you more about the joint future. #KLSmartin #mmX #DKOU2023
