In the refugee camps Mae La Oon and Mae Ra Ma Luang in #Thailand, we're dedicated to supporting expectant mothers! Our team, mostly comprised of refugees themselves, works in two hospitals to ensure the health of camp residents. We prioritize the well-being of mothers and their children. With a donation of just €80, you can provide essential medication for a pregnant woman. Your support helps ensure every mother and child receives the best possible care. Celebrating World Youth Skills Day with Success Stories from #Uganda! In 2019, together with our partner Kulika Uganda, we launched the Creative Capacity Building project in refugee settlements in North Western Uganda. This initiative equips participants with vocational skills supporting them to develop practical solutions to community challenges and generate sustainable income. Since its inception, the project has seen remarkable success, with 73 technologies developed and 445 individuals trained by the end of 2023. With plans to train an estimated 758 individuals by the end of 2024, this initiative is making a lasting impact. Join us as we celebrate some of the young people whose entrepreneurial spirit has transformed their livelihoods: ➡️ United Bar Soap Group - This group makes affordable bar soap for sale. They manufacture soap weekly, providing a valuable product for their community. ➡️ Blessing Juice Making Group - This 4-member group produces avocado juice. With cash for start-up materials, they now sell in the marketplace, creating a new income stream. ➡️ Loketa Popcorn Group - This group received tools and start-up materials to improve their popcorn production. Their success has enabled them to purchase and sell additional goods. We are grateful for funding from the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) that makes lifechanging interventions such as these possible. #MalteserInternational #WorldYouthSkillsDay #SkillsRightNow Malteser International in Uganda

Emergency relief for affected families after floods in #Bangladesh 🇧🇩 Last month, heavy rainfall caused devastating landslides and flash floods in the Cox's Bazar district of Bangladesh, impacting refugee camps severely. Nine lives were lost, and hundreds of families faced flooding that destroyed their homes and belongings. Our priority was to aid the most vulnerable families during this crisis. Together with our partner Gonoshasthaya Kendra (গণস্বাস্থ্য কেন্দ্র), we took action by distributing clothing packages to 300 affected families. Each package included a variety of clothing sets and sandals for women, men, and children, along with essential mosquito nets. This emergency relief effort was made possible through the dedication of our on-ground teams and the support of Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany. Thank you to everyone involved in ensuring that these families received crucial assistance during such a challenging time. #MalteserInternational #EmergencyRelief #Floods #Landslides #WithRefugees

#SouthSudan: A clean start for mothers We’re proud to share our latest initiative in a camp for internally displaced people in Atende, where 30 single mothers from both refugee and host communities received extensive training in the art of #SoapMaking. With a hands-on approach, they were taught how to use the equipment needed for soap production and gained important insights on safety precautions. Under expert leadership, these women learned everything from production processes to packaging and branding. Now, they're turning their new skills into an alternative source of income! 🔗Learn more about our work in South Sudan: https://bit.ly/45U9QtI 🔗Click here to donate: https://bit.ly/3LfNZn6 #MalteserInternational #SoapProduction #WomenEmpowerment #SustainableIncome #CommunityDevelopment

Financial aid for families #displaced by gang violence in #Haiti The crisis in Haiti is escalating. Food insecurity and rampant gang #violence in Port-au-Prince are making daily life unbearable. Many families are fleeing to overcrowded camps, seeking safety and basic necessities. Guecheline Josie Léger, who fled her home with her five children, shared her story: “One day, I was warned of shootings near my home. By the time I returned, it was untenable. We had to leave to survive.” Guecheline and her children have been sheltered in a commune in the Nippes Department since January. This month, we provided cash aid to 400 families in the #Nippes Department where many displaced families have taken refuge. For Guecheline, this is the first support she’s received, and she plans to use the funds wisely to care for her children. But much more aid is urgently needed. Donate now to bring hope and relief to struggling families in Haiti. Every contribution makes a difference: https://lnkd.in/e4krev2X #Haiti #PortAuPrince #HumanitarianAid #SupportHaiti #HopeForHaiti

Delegation Visit to Jerusalem Last week, a high-level delegation from the Order of Malta visited our latest relief program for people in need in #Gaza as part of this year's presidential trip. Invited by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem , the participants had the opportunity for a personal exchange with His Beatitude Pierbattista Cardinal Pizzaballa and the residents of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. They received detailed insights into our humanitarian mission, the management of our intervention and spoke with the partner parish in northern Gaza via video call. The agenda also included a visit to the warehouse in Israel where approximately 40 tons of relief supplies are being prepared for transfer to Gaza. We extend our heartfelt thanks for the constructive exchange, the warm hospitality, extensive insights into the situation on the ground, and the spiritual experiences in the Holy Land. #HumanitarianAid #GazaAid #EmergencyRelief #LatinPatriarchateOfJerusalem #OrderOfMalta #MalteserInternational @Fra’ Alessandro de Franciscis Raphael Vermeir CBE @John E. During #WorldRefugeeDay celebrations in June, the #Karen living in Mae La Oon camp, performed traditional songs and dances, celebrating their cultural diversity. These celebrations are also aimed at raising awareness about the rights and needs of displaced people. The Karen are a diverse ethnic group, native to the border regions of Myanmar and #Thailand, and have endured persecution and conflict for decades. Many Karen have fled their homeland in search of safety and peace. Reflecting on World Refugee Day, Eh Christ Soe, an 18-year-old student from the camp, shares his thoughts: "This day is important to me because it highlights the struggles of people who are forced to leave their homes and countries, like us Karen. It reminds us of what the Karen people have gone through since many decades and until this day. As a student, I have a dream that after I graduate, I want to go back and help my community with medical healthcare. This is my biggest hope for the future." In the Mae La Oon camp, where more than 10,000 refugees find shelter, we provide vital medical care, including psychosocial care for displaced people. Though World Refugee Day has passed, we must continue to highlight the stories of refugees worldwide. Let’s make a difference together: Support refugees by donating now 👉https://lnkd.in/e8WeZ5DX #MalteserInternational #WithRefugees #WorldRefugeeDay2024 #SupportRefugees #Karen #Thailand
