Today is International Women‘s Day. Our NGO Partner The Hunger Project is supporting women to be key change agents in their communities to end inequality, poverty and hunger in the world. They work with locally adjusted strategies. A central issue is to end child marriage. In Bangladesh, the THP program „Safe School for Girls“ works with students, teachers, parents and local communities to stop child marriages and to promote opportunities for girls. More than 25,000 people have been trained in Safe School for Girls workshops. Rumi, a 14-year-old girl living in Bangladesh was able to prevent her child marriage with the help of her friends, her school and The Hunger Project intervention. This International Women's Day, we shine a spotlight on the incredible women of JustPlay who drive innovation and excellence in tech. Yet, the journey towards gender equality in tech continues. We are deeply grateful to our JustPlay community. In 2023, our players made 91,166 donations to The Hunger Project via the JustPlay app, and we matched every single one. Through The Hunger Project, we've learned the power of collective action. Education, improved agriculture, and the empowerment of women are key to breaking the cycle of poverty and hunger. These efforts are transforming lives, one community at a time. Studies show that when women are supported and empowered, all of society benefits. Their families are healthier, more children go to school, agricultural productivity improves, and incomes increase. Learn more about the work of the Hunger Project to help transform the lives of families by listening to Aminata’s Story: Aminata never had the opportunity herself to learn to read or write. A mother of four, she has vowed to work for opportunity and prosperity for her children. She has received training and guidance through THP at the Epicenter to improve her agricultural activities and increase her income. She learned about the importance of education through the THP Programs and says resolutely "If you don't put your children in school, you reduce their chances of succeeding in life, I did not go to school; there is no way that my children will have the same fate.” To support her children Aminata uses new sources of income. In addition to her vegetable farming, she started a cattle business and the production of soap. We brought our global team together for the first time in the vibrant city of Abu Dhabi, and it was nothing short of magical! Our agenda was packed with interactive workshops, team-sharing sessions, and a range of exciting activities, from desert safari tours and beach outings to exploring the sights of Abu Dhabi. Every moment spent together, from the laughter-filled dinners to the insightful team discussions, has deepened our connections and commitment to our work and each other. It's incredible how a week of face-to-face time can bring so much joy and fresh perspectives! we're buzzing with excitement for what lies ahead. 🚀
