📢 INFORM has launched its Syncrotess Optimization Plus solution at Norfolk Southern’s Austell terminal in Atlanta, Georgia.  🚂 The solution reportedly enables the terminal to have complete transparency of their stacked operations as well as optimized yard storage and crane movement operations. INFORM’s add-on AI and optimization solution takes a modular approach to adding advanced intelligence to a terminal’s existing TOS. This path allows them to isolate the terminal’s specific challenges and provide a bespoke solution for their specific operational challenges. As an add-on optimization solution, Norfolk Southern have built the required optimization on top of their existing Terminal Operating System (TOS) OPTCS 2.0. Austell is the second Norfolk Southern site running INFORM’s Syncortess Optmization Plus solution. In 2023, NS took the solution live at their Rossville terminal. Künstliche Intelligenz wird die Art und Weise verändern, wie wir kommunizieren, arbeiten und Informationen abrufen. 🤖 Davon ist unser Geschäftsführer Dr. Jörg Herbers überzeugt, wie er in einem Gespräch mit Focus-online sagte. Dies wird sich in Zukunft auf den Umgang mit Geräten und Software im Privaten wie in der Wirtschaft auswirken. 🏠🏢 Im Privaten werden wir zukünftig Laptops und Smartphones überwiegend mündlich über Sprache steuern. Dahinter steht dann eine KI-Logik, die über Systemgrenzen hinweg Benutzeroberflächen lesen und Informationen finden, verstehen und nach Vorgaben des Nutzers auswerten. Auch im wirtschaftlichen Kontext wird Sprache eine wichtige Basis für die Interaktion mit KI-basierter Software sein 🗣️. Und das geht hier weit über den Gebrauch von Apps hinaus. Wir werden KI-Modelle erleben, die nicht mehr aufwendig parametriert werden müssen. Process AI wird aus sehr vielen Daten und Quellen Wissen beziehen und daraus Nutzer noch viel stärker unterstützen, gute Entscheidungen abzuleiten. KI wird immer mehr Probleme in Bereichen wie Optimierung, Entscheidungsfindung, Wissensmanagement und Prozessautomatisierung lösen. Diese absehbare Entwicklung bedeutet, dass Software und KI genauso wichtig für Betriebe sein werden, wie es heute bereits Menschen und Hardware sind. Und das heißt, dass sich es sich kein mittleres oder größeres Unternehmen leisten können wird, auf KI zu verzichten. Diese Erkenntnis spielt auch eine wichtige Rolle für die Entwicklung unserer eigenen Software. 🌟MTU Aero Engines centralizes factory transport with INFORM 🎉 Engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines has increased its internal delivery reliability from 89 to 93 percent by optimizing its multi-stage transport chains with INFORM's AI-based system. MTU Aero Engines also uses the cloud-based solution for time slot management and truck delivery control. This has reduced the average throughput time from 56 to 46 minutes and significantly increased the transparency of inbound traffic. In order to meet changing logistics requirements and integrate new functionalities, the leading engine manufacturer upgraded the transport control system from optimization specialist INFORM to the latest product version 10 as part of an internal modernization project. 🔔 Important selection criterion: Multi-stage transport chains can be mapped Since 1993, the intelligent transport control system at MTU has served as a single source of truth for internal plant transport and dynamically calculates optimized handling sequences for forklifts, electric trolleys, trailer transports and other means of transport in real time. One of the most important selection criteria was the ability to map multi-stage transport chains, such as cross-hall warehouse and yard transports or cross-location transports within the internal supply chain. 🌱 MTU realized cost savings of around 30 percent in the transport area and an ROI of less than one year in the first few years after the initial introduction. 🚀 Improved traceability across all process steps However, the scope and complexity of planning has increased since then: 560,000 transport orders alone are processed via the system every year. Instead of 60, over 400 items are now planned, production logistics has been expanded and other small-scale processes have been added. “Our aim was to achieve the same level of transparency in these newly connected processes that we have established with Syncrotess in production supply,” says Florian Wohlgemuth, Project Manager Logistics Planning at MTU in Munich. "With our modernization measures, we are enabling mobile scanning processes for the small parts processes and better traceability across all process steps.
