𝙊𝙪𝙧 𝙂𝙈𝙎 "𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙨" 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙 Our latest addition to our fleet, the GMS "Helios", has also received the Green Award in the highest honour. The ship, which has been in operation since this summer, has solar panels in addition to low-water optimisation and diesel-electric propulsion with "future-fuel-ready" capability included. These storage units installed in the hatches generate up to 90 megawatt hours of electricity. The ship thus acts as its own power station for on-board operations. We are very proud that the GMS Helios, another ship in our fleet, has been honoured with the Green Award in Gold. Our efforts towards sustainability and innovation in inland shipping continue to pay off. 𝗔 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 As a driver of innovation in our industry, we also see our organisation as a platform for exchange between industry experts, customers and partners. That's why, two weeks ago, we organised the event "The future is now: Innovations in dry shipping" in Düsseldorf. The centrepiece of the informative evening was a presentation on innovative ship concepts and a panel discussion. The focus was on the topic of resilient supply chains. The panel highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing the industry and inland shipping sector in terms of security of supply, capacities, economic conditions and the effects of climate change such as low water levels. The discussion provided valuable solutions and explained the role of inland shipping as a reliable mode of transport. Together with many other Duisburg companies, we have signed the Duisburger Charter for Compatibility - here in the person of Susanne Kluthe, Head of HR at HGK Shipping, signing the charter.   With this charter, we are committed to actively promoting the compatibility of work, family and personal life in our company. For us, this initiative is the next step after signing the “Charta der Vielfalt” in order to position our company for the future based on our values.   The new Duisburg Alliance for Compatibility is an initiative of the Stadt Duisburg, the Niederrheinische IHK Duisburg-Wesel-Kleve and the Unternehmerverband. Together, they want to create a network that is intensively involved in the socially important topics of reconciling family, care, voluntary work and career.   Compatibility is a key success factor for our economic performance and the satisfaction of our employees. The environmentally friendly diesel-electric drive and the "Future Fuel Ready" concept in particular speak in favour of the ship's design in line with our guiding principle of "Driving Sustainability". The “Helios”, a modern dry goods vessel operated by HGK Shipping, will sail for ADM, one of the world’s leading food and agricultural groups. The design not only includes the HGK Shipping standards for optimising operations in shallow waters and a diesel-electric drive system with “future-fuel-ready” capability, but also the installation of solar panels. The module, which has been inserted to make use of solar power and is larger than any other one found on an inland waterway vessel anywhere in the world, reduces the emissions significantly on the vessel that has been designed precisely for this purpose. The experienced logistics manager, Andreas Boegner, is taking over as managing director of BUSS HGK Logistics from July 2024 onwards. Working together with Morten Lund, he will be responsible for the company that supplies the Krupp-Mannesmann steelworks (HKM). Among other things, the 80 or so employees there organise the handling and warehouse services for the renowned steel manufacturer. As a highlight of our gas tanker fleet, we christened the GAS 95 in the spring. We don't want to withhold the great photos of this special event in the port of Duisburg from you. Thanks to its diesel-electric drive, the gas tanker operates with very low emissions and a performance-optimized output of almost 1,600 kW. The “future-fuel-ready” design and draft optimization make the ship particularly future-proof. With its dimensions of 110 m in length and 11.45 m in width, the GAS 95 can be used flexibly and will therefore be seen throughout the entire Rhine river area, including the tributaries. We are delighted to be able to add a new ship to our fleet very soon. The innovative dry cargo ship, the HELIOS, has just successfully completed its sea trial.   The HELIOS sets milestones and provides an exciting outlook for the future of dry cargo shipping. But first things first: “HELIOS” is the name of the sun god in Greek mythology. The color scheme of the new building therefore features numerous sunny yellow accents.   The name also emphasizes another special feature of the freighter: the HELIOS is the inland vessel with the largest panel surface installed to date for generating solar energy. The solar panels installed on the hatch roofs can feed an annual energy yield of up to 90,000 kWh into the on-board power supply, thus sustainably reducing gas oil consumption.   The HELIOS also has the option of making the “Future Fuel Ready” concept a reality. In future, the midship sections can be used as installation spaces for alternative fuels or gensets. Until then, however, the unused space will be used as cargo space. 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗸𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗚𝗞 𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 Since the beginning of June Florian Bleikamp is the new Managing Director at HGK Dry Shipping and supports the existing management team, consisting of Andreas Lemme and the CEO, Steffen Bauer. European dry shipping is undergoing a process of fundamental change. Flows of goods in particular, which are changing as part of the energy revolution, need to be adapted to make this business viable for the future – and the experienced logistics manager is set to focus on this issue. Another key task for Florian Bleikamp will involve providing greater integration for all dry shipping activities along the German and European waterways.
