Let’s get back to basics. When was the last time you reviewed your employee value proposition? 😳 Over the last five years, the work expectations of a modern workforce have shifted drastically, with every year after 2019 being a bigger disruptor than the previous one. Nowadays employees value: ⏰ Flexibility in time and location over salary. That is not to say you can cut on employees’ compensation but rather to highlight a fundamental shift in values. Modern employees would instead choose a less-paying job that offers opportunities to work remotely than a better-paying job that can only be done onsite. 🍃 Sustainability and DEI over material rewards. As trust in traditional institutions keeps declining, employees want to see greater accountability from businesses when it comes to both preserving the environment and ensuring fair and equal treatment. ❤️🩹 Purpose over linear career paths. Knowing that they’ll have to spend the vast majority of their life at work, millennials and genZ want more fulfillment from their employment. Modern employees want to contribute to a better future with their work. You need to adapt your EVP to these changes to attract and retain talent.
