A new source of energy for the Main-Tauber district has been opened. We are delighted that the Gickelfeld solar park near Külsheim in Baden-Württemberg is now connected to the grid. Its 69,066 PV modules, with a total output of 30 MWp, will generate enough clean electricity to supply around 9,500 households and avoid approximately 22,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. 🌱 This solar park is part of an impressive plant complex realized jointly by EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, Thüga Erneuerbare Energien, and Stadtwerk Tauberfranken. With a total output of 68 MW, it is the most powerful solar plant in Baden-Württemberg to date. Airplanes, skylarks, and solar power for 10,000 households: The Lärz/Rechlin solar park demonstrates how nature and solar energy generation can not only coexist but actually benefit from each other. One kilometer of the Müritz airfield is utilized for the solar park. This kilometer of meadow is home to skylarks, among other species. In collaboration with the environmental agency and our partner RheinEnergie AG, we planned the spacing of the solar modules to ensure the animals have enough room to breed and find shelter from the sun and rain in the shade of the panels. 🔋 A highlight of this project is the integration of a battery storage system from energy storage provider INTILION, with a capacity of 7 MWh. This ensures that the electricity generated is available even when solar radiation is low or at night. One step further for our Sonnenweg innovation park in Hirschberg: We are thrilled to announce that the Sonnenweg project company recently signed the lease agreements for two plots of land in the municipality of Hirschberg an der Bergstraße. Together with our local cooperation partners Energiegenossenschaft Hohe Waid and AVR Energie, we will realize the Sonnenweg innovation park, a versatile multi-purpose PV park for education and research. An astonishing project. The municipality of Hirschberg is actively supporting the project, which is reflected in the recent signing of the contract with Mayor Ralf Gänshirt. The start of construction for the first phase is planned for the beginning of 2025, so that the first solar energy can be harvested in the same year. 1 of 342,030: The first solar module for the Bartow solar park has been installed. Module after module is now being placed onto the prepared mounting systems. Soon, the valuable rays of sunlight will be collected here and converted into solar power for the region. With a capacity of 260 MWp and a total area of over 205 hectares, the Bartow solar park will be the second largest in Germany to date. In the future, 100,000 tons of CO2 will be saved annually. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Franziska Brantner, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and a member of the German Bundestag. Along with representatives from local and state politics, she visited our company to discuss the challenges and goals of energy policy. Franziska Brantner explained the German government's strategies and plans, covering topics such as climate protection measures, bureaucracy, subsidies and potential regulatory optimizations to accelerate the expansion of renewable energies. We presented our company and our project Sonnenweg, to the State Secretary and outlined what companies need to ensure the success of both economic development and the energy transition.
