For Back Market, centralizing its design system and streamlining processes was a massive challenge demanding immediate attention. Enter Our Interim PMs: When Back Market needed a hand, our team of Interim Product Managers stepped in with a mission. We knew that to make a real difference, we had to centralize operations and enhance efficiency. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆: 1️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: We collaborated with the team to establish a cohesive vision for the design system and evangelized it across the organization. 2️⃣ 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀: Transitioning from Kanban to Scrum, we redefined processes, cleaned up over 500 tickets, and implemented prioritization frameworks. 3️⃣ 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: By automating Jira and Slack interactions, we saved up to 14 hours per month, streamlining support and internal tasks. 4️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Partnering with an external agency, we audited and improved accessibility across platforms, ensuring inclusive design and development practices. While applying for new roles in product management, one opportunity stood out to me: a PM role at Product People a company specialising in providing interim & “fractional” PMs to companies. Intrigued by a role that would offer great variety and exposure to different clients, I decided to apply. What I did not expect was that I would find their application form to be delightful and engaging — first time that has happened to me while filling out a job application form. Like most companies, Product People require their applicants to fill out a list of prerequisite questions, even before the first interview. What really stood out to me was how thought-provoking and engaging their questions were. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the brain teaser of answering them, but I also felt I was becoming a better PM by reflecting on my past experiences and allowing me to integrate them. Even if you are not applying for PM roles at the moment, I believe their questions can be an interesting exercise to sharpen your thinking and remind yourself of the effectivity habits we should cultivate as PMs. I’ve collected their questions below and also included my own answers. I would love to hear more opinions on how to handle those scenarios and kickstart a discussion on effective PM habits, tactics and strategies. #product #productmanagement #startup
