June was an absolute whirlwind! From conference stages to tasting events and get-togethers with our LPs, founders, and community, it was an incredibly exciting month. Let's take a moment to look back at some of the hottest updates from our portfolio. 🔥 ▶ Sanity Group, one of Germany's leading cannabis companies, has received $21m investment from the Jupiter Fund of Organigram Holdings Inc., a premier licensed cannabis producer based in Toronto, Canada. Finn Age Hänsel ▶ PROJECT EADEN shined at the HackSummit with a live cooking show, presenting new products from cooked ham to Serrano-style cured ham, sausages, and whole cuts. The response from hundreds of food tech experts was overwhelmingly positive. Dr. David Schmelzeisen Jan Wilmking ▶ Klim secured 2nd place in the KPMG Venture Services Venture Champion Award. This accolade underscores their dedication to making a positive impact on agriculture by empowering farmers and organizations to regenerate soils. Robert Gerlach Nina Mannheimer ▶ Searo Labs achieved a monumental milestone with the production of their 150th meter of flexible seaweed film, free from plastic and bioplastic. 🥗 Impressions from the Food & Beverage Innovation Forum (FBIF) in Shanghai last week! FoodLabs' Founding Partner, Christophe Maire, joined the third day of the forum, leading the charge on discussions on the future of food- and biotech. In this keynote "Navigating the Foodtech Revolution: Bioeconomy as Key to Global Food Security", he emphasized the role of bioeconomy and cutting-edge science and its potential to solve some of the biggest food and climate challenges. In addition to his keynote, Christophe moderated two panel discussions: 🔬 "From Lab to Table: Turning Food Tech to Popular Products" – diving into the commercialization of cutting-edge food technologies, together with industry experts like Tatjana Krampitz (New Food GEA Food), Dr Andy Zhe Zeng (Danone Research & Innovation), Jason Cohen (Simulacra Synthetic Data Studio), and Nandita Prabhu (Givaudan). ✨ We couldn't be happier to unveil our latest new joiner: Ann-Cathrin Schulz! Ann-Cathrin joined our Studio team a few weeks ago as an Associate, but our journey with her began back in November 2020: from the start, we were impressed by her passion for food innovation and impact investing. Back then, Ann supported our company-building activities and Pre-Seed investments, and after working closely with a FoodLabs founder, decided to join one of our portfolio companies as a Founders Associate. In her role, she led the biggest cross-functional projects incl. the launch of new geographies, segments, and business models while supporting HR, Finance, and Investor Relations. 🚀 We're thrilled to have Ann back with us - now as an Associate. 🚀 Most recently, Ann worked at Project A with late-stage companies, where she managed organizational and tech infrastructure projects and identified efficiency and growth opportunities alongside senior stakeholders. Her passion for the food and agriculture industry started early, with her first job at a local farmers market in Switzerland at the age of 16: "During my studies in economics, I worked at a plant-based food concept in Zürich, where I was responsible for one store, learned about healthy and environmentally friendly nutrition, and how a gastronomy business works. My passion for the food industry and supporting founders in building impactful companies that make a difference have guided me back to where I started my journey and I couldn’t be more excited to be back and working on solving the world’s biggest challenges together with humble, smart, and hard-working people."
