🔬 Novel autoantibody against DAGLA discovered in cerebellitis! A new study conducted by EUROIMMUN, Hannover Medical School and other institutes identifies diacylglycerol lipase alpha (DAGLA) as a novel target antigen in autoimmune, rapidly progressing inflammation of the cerebellum (rapid progressive cerebellar ataxia). 🧠 Important facts: DAGLA autoantibodies have been found in patients with severe movement and vision problems. Antibodies bind specifically to the dendrites of Purkinje cells in the cerebellum. Two subtypes of anti-DAGLA autoantibodies were identified. Early diagnosis and aggressive immunotherapy could slow the progression of the disease.
