Earlier this month, EIT RawMaterials’ long-time partner, Rare Earths Norway AS (“REN”), a Norwegian mining company, reached a significant milestone through the discovery of continental Europe’s largest deposit or rare earths (REE). This underscores Norway’s position as a vital part of Europe’s rare earth and critical raw material value chain. It also demonstrates Europe’s resource potential and the emerging opportunities to invest in world-class mining and processing projects to help secure our industrial value chains and set new standards in environmental and social performance through technology, innovation and collaboration. Rare Earths Norway is actively pursuing the Norwegian government ambitions through the new Mineral Strategy to develop the most sustainable mineral industry in the world. The goal for Rare Earths Norway is to contribute to a total, compact value chain, from mine to magnet with considerably lower climate- and environmental impact. The Critical Raw Materials Act has set an extremely ambitious goal: by 2030, at least 25% of Europe's annual consumption of critical and strategic raw materials should come from domestic recycling.     Our recent Raw Materials Summit attracted some of the industry’s leaders to the stage to discuss the realities behind this ambition.
