Celebrating the intermodal partnership between CargoBeamer and Amazon 🚅 Our COO Boris Timm joined 2024's issue of the FASTforward summit in Barcelona, a leading event on Amazon's European and global transportation activities. On the forum, Amazon's Head of Intermodal Spyros Kalpogiannis presented the collaboration video about Amazon and CargoBeamer working together to decarbonize Amazon's supply chains. From the Mediterranean to Germany & Benelux by rail 🚅 Our CargoBeamer route connecting Kaldenkirchen (DE) and Bari (IT) via Domodossola means an intermodal long bridge for semi-trailers to travel across major parts of Europe without needing a driver or truck. Kaldenkirchen Terminal is coming - First construction tender is out 🏗️ Construction of the first CargoBeamer-Terminanl on German ground will start soon, and the first tender package for suppliers of mechanical and electrical engineering has been published recently. The site in Kaldenkirchen will be one of the most modern road-rail transshipment terminals in Europe, allowing semi-trailers to be shifted on a freight train horizontally and fully automated. CargoBeamer secures € 140 million investment capital 🚀 We are proud to announce a major financial milestone by securing € 140 million as a part of a Series B financing round. A total of € 90 million in funding commitments are granted by the German Federal Railway Authority (“EBA”) and the Swiss Bundesamt für Verkehr BAV to be used to construct two new CargoBeamer-Terminals in Kaldenkirchen (Germany) and Domodossola (Italy). An additional € 50 million was provided by private shareholders. 🚅 CEO Nicolas Albrecht says: „CargoBeamer is one of the most important innovations in European freight transport in recent decades. Expanding our intermodal partnership with UPS 🫱🏻🫲🏽 We are happy to share the successful test with UPS between Domodossola and Bari, the new CargoBeamer connection which was established earlier this year. From Bari, the UPS semi-trailer continued its journey to Patras in Greece, completing an unaccompanied international long-bridge transport between Southern and Central Europe. 📦 CargoBeamer and UPS have been collaborating to enable sustainable transport of parcel deliveries for several months now.
