With a digital library containing more than 180 cell types based on lithium chemistry, we are eager to share the integration of the first sodium-ion battery, NaCr26700-MP3.0(A) from HiNa Battery, into the Batemo Cell Explorer! https://lnkd.in/enCrGJNv 🔋 We measured an energy density of 217 Wh/l, and a power density of 1.39 kW/l for this cell amongst additional specifications which you can find on HiNa Battery NaCR26700 MP3.0(A) Batemo Cell Model: https://lnkd.in/eY5zZrMH ⚡ At low temperatures, metallic lithium deposition occurs on the anode surface at high currents; a result of the anode surface potential dropping below the lithium intercalation potential. This lithium plating is one of the main limitations for fast charging, which is avoided altogether with sodium-ion technology. 💪 The NaCr chemistry of this cell makes it inherently more thermally stable than lithium-ion chemistries, further demonstrated by our wider test matrix (which you can find on our website) where constant current voltage and pulse measurements were carried out in chambers ranging from +40 °C to -40 °C at various C-rates. 🌱 Sodium is a widely abundant raw material, that’s easier to extract in comparison to lithium, and widely recycled. ❗ Exciting Announcement ❗ We’re starting the day with a new addition to the Batemo Cell Model Library. The prismatic Blade C102F cell from BYD, as the name suggests, has a unique “blade-like” design that allows for efficient heat dissipation during charging and maximized space utilization on pack level. 🦺 As reported by BYD (https://lnkd.in/eB6a_C35), this cell excels in its safety. The blade design combined with the LFP cathode has reportedly shown to have impressive thermal stability, withstanding thermal runaway even after undergoing extreme tests such as the nail penetration test. On single cell level, we found an energy density of 381 Wh/l and a power density of 1.29 kW/l.
