Does an IT specialist ever truly finish their work? During regular hours, perhaps. However, sometimes duties are so crucial and potential damages so significant that an emergency intervention is required. Our IT specialists often face unexpected situations during these interventions. For instance, our colleague Jan Koudela had to leave his ordered risotto to address an urgent issue. The data transfer between two systems had stopped, risking production downtime and potential million-dollar losses. Thanks to his quick response, the issue was resolved successfully. Jan values feedback, which motivates him for future challenges. Take a look at Škoda Auto's new headquarters, The Laurin and Klement Kampus in Mladá Boleslav. 🌟 🏗️ This state-of-the-art complex is home to cutting-edge technology and talented professionals. The campus features modern laboratories, conference rooms equipped with the latest technologies, research and development spaces, relaxation zones, a restaurant, and a cafe. It is named after the beginnings of Škoda Auto and its founders. The legacy of this duo is preserved by turning to this beautiful part of history for inspiration. On the campus, there is Café Klement, and right next to it is Laurin's restaurant. Inspiration from both inventors is also evident in the graphic concept. Silhouettes of the founders, made of tiny hooks forming the word 'Škoda', are placed in several locations on the campus. Next to these silhouettes are quotes from Laurin and Klement, which always relate to the DNA of Škoda Auto and its values. The project manager Nevlida states: “We wanted to make it possible for people to meet and cooperate. At the reception, you can find the facility management team, overseeing the entire building from one point. However, it also includes an IT point," explains Sven. "We want our colleagues to be able to resolve issues such as phone troubles within the LKK building without having to go to the factory where the IT department is located. In the future, we also plan to have mail services at the reception." 🗓️🥳 Throughout May, the European month of diversity, we organized several initiatives to support and raise awareness of diversity. 🟢 We started with a meetup featuring Senta Čermáková, the executive director of Czechitas, an organization that introduces women to the IT sector. This session served as a showcase of our progress in boosting female employment. 🧑🏫 Hundreds of employees participated in the event, thank you, @senta.cermakova! 🟢 How to identify and overcome barriers that may block equity in the tech industry? We are working on that. In our online session, the conversation emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive environment that boosts diverse talents. All of this motivates us even more to build diverse teams and create an inclusive work environment. In the Czech Republic, we have 10% women in ICT, which is only about half the European average. It has been proven that more inclusive companies have 19% higher innovation revenues. 📈🥗 🟢 We endorsed an online discussion titled "The Power of Allyship and Respect at the Workplace" organized by Škoda Proud, focusing on enhancing respect and support for LGBT+ employees. This event underlined our ongoing efforts to fortify our company culture and promote diversity. 🟢 We were part of the "Fun & Run 2024" event in Prague, a charity run aimed at combating homophobia, biphobia, intersex-phobia, transphobia, and the stigma against people with HIV. This was not only a sporting event but also a communal gathering to openly discuss and inform about these social issues, furthering understanding and empathy. 45 people participated in the run, and it was a great event. 🏃🏃♂️🏃♀ 🟢 Additionally, our Diversity Community Meetup explored new and pertinent topics like neurodiversity, Generation Z, domestic violence, and discrimination through a series of workshops and lectures. The upcoming Generation Z is currently represented by approximately 13% in our Škoda Auto population. 👩💻 🏢 🟢 The digital world, which we are a part of, also affects the youngest among us. A workshop with a psychologist helped employees - parents of preschool children - clarify their role in relation to how their children use digital technologies. 👨💻 🟢 Toward the end of the month, we offered an Inclusive Language Training, led by Dr. Valdrová, which provided practical tips and insights into the importance of using inclusive language and its implementation in everyday communication within Škoda Auto. 📣🗨️ 🟢 We capped off this special month with the second anniversary celebration of Internationals@Škoda. This gathering highlighted the significance of internationalization at Škoda Auto, featuring stories from employees of multiple nationalities about their experiences and contributions to the company’s culture and success. 👏
