Mar 14, 2018 at 16:01 comment added supercat @KevinFegan: The only situations I can think of where using an uppercase K for 1000 should not be viewed as being simply wrong would those where a lowercase "k" is unavailable, e.g.some situations involving signage or limited character sets.

Because of the binary nature of computer architecture and software, it's probably correct. Outside of discussions about computers and particularly software, it is most likely not correct.
