admin is the default cpTrigger value—might be worth updating, granted most installs will be configured as such, out of the box. Otherwise, great recommendations, thorough answer! 💞

This was another stumbling block. The cpTrigger had been set to a different value so I was getting the same error when trying to access the default /admin.
